FWIW, once the government bails you out, I'm fine with them being all up in your bidness.

Socialism, at least the form of it that is used up here in Canada works quite well thank you.  We didnt completely de-regulate our banks and guess what?  When the market crashed in 2008 we didnt.  You guys did, because you allow your free market to police itself.  So ipso facto socialism works free market doesnt.  Our regulations saved our butts, what happened to you guys?

You think it works quite well because you don't know any better.  Move to a country where you can enjoy some free enterprise and you'll never move back.

South Korea and North Korea started out with similar resources and one did very bad and one did well.

Capitalism works!

Niether system works perfectly because people are different and they make errors, whether they're capitalist or socialist of communist or whatever.  The reason capitalism works better is simple:  freedom.  The reason it doesn't work perfectly is that it's comprised of people.

The reason I favor capitalism is choice.  I have the choice to take on risk.  I have the right to make that choice.  I do not have an inherent right to other people's production.  I do live in a society that creates a contract to share some production for common things (which is obviously where the debate is).  I have no issue with government, under the people's authority, providing common services that we cannot do individually - such as roads, military, regulation of the rules of trade, etc.  I have a big problem with any government telling me I'm entitled to someone else's rewards for their production in the name of fairness.  If people share the wealth, good on them.  I am not entitled to their wealth.  We can agree it's a good thing to help others, but compelling people to do so by confiscation is tyranny.

BTW, one of the reasons socialism "seems" to work, or at least is hanging on in Canada and Europe is that their defense is subsidized - by us.  I don't have a huge problem with that because a stable Europe and a stable group of allied countries is in our best interests.

Warren Buffet doesn't owe me a dime.  Neither does anyone I don't have a contract to work for.

Capitalism is completely based on risk/reward.  To those willing to risk, the potential reward (and depth of loss) is greater.  That's how it should be.

Canada isnt a socialist country.  Certainly there are elements to Canada that smacks of Socialism, but we are much more like America then the USSR.  We have a system in place that has most of the good of both free market and socialism.  Not saying that Canada is perfect, we have much to do to get there.  But we certainly have a much better system, and are universally loved way more then America.

And Im pretty tired of Americans thinking that they have to protect us.  We do just fine on our own thank you very much.  We dont need to protect ourselves to the same degree as you guys because 1/2 of the planet doesnt have a serious hate on on us.  We are little Canada that tries to do as much good for the world as possible.  America needs to spend insane amounts of money on defense because you guys have a terrible reputation for trying to control the entire world.

You are a handful of people sitting on a ton of resources.

If not for the United States, and Great Britain you would have been over run and split up long ago!

When exactly have you ever done "Fine on your own"? You have always been protected by others.

Actually America tried to conquer a part of the United Kingdom and failed.

OUR FREE AND MIGHTY LAND BITCHSLAPPED YE

AND BAILED YE OUT IN NORMANDY TOO!
Although the Canadian campaigns were not our most successful, Canada was part of the United Kingdom and were part of the losing side.

And I am pretty sure it was the American 3rd Army that bailed out the Allies.
