dh is right on both counts.  But yes, defense means way less than it should (it is *almost* meaningless).  It means way less in $47M than $52M.  This is $47M, btw.

rofl!!!  I love the analogy.  It is *spot* on.  I like the 93-94 season better despite the less boards and lower paint%.  It's cheaper by $500k, has way less fouls (in more minutes) and his fg% is a little higher.  Still, unless you've got Nater & Rodman with him in the front court, you can't pull it off in this league and the 92-93 is a better choice.  If his damn fg% was a little higher, his late 80s seasons would be delicious... unfortunately, I am not going to pay someone $9M+ to only shoot 50% from the field with high 20s usage.

 8) eleibowitz - Dwight Howard, Donyell Marshall, Tom Boerwinkle, Chris Mullin, Terrell Brandon

After each pick made, I was nodding my head in agreement.  Until Brandon.  He's solid, just not what I wanted you to take.  Marshall is the perfect SF (if you don't have Rodman or Barkley), especially when you have Howard (who, at 8, is a steal).  Boerwinkle + Howard + Marshall means that offensive boards will be extremely hard to come by for your opponents.  Winkle makes Howard even better, too.  Mullin is stout.  He has several extremely good 4th tier usage seasons in addition to the great 3rd tier ones (89-90 is one of my favorite sim seasons, even though I've never personally used it).  I feel like you could have done better than Brandon, but like I said, he's solid.  This team is a legit contender


Yeah ash wasn't so sure about Brandon myself but felt my team was getting a little high in fouls and TOs and need to get it under control.  So traded a little usage tiering for TOs and Fouls.  Plus really felt I needed someone with over 22.1 usage who played over 70 defense in that spot.  We will see how this goes

well, Allen and Lucas are probably not who I would have started with (mainly cause I wouldn't usually draft two low DEF guys together as my 1st two picks) but it's good to go outside the comfort zone and I'm pretty happy with what I ended up with. Always good to end up with my secret weapon, TR Dunn. Probably OK with defense with Penny, Walton, and Dunn. Pretty good efg% for a 47 mil team, and I think I'll be good on usage. Should be good on rebounds and assists too. I really think this team is pretty solid overall.

i think the def on this squad will be functional, not great, but competitive enough to keep them in the game. total mins for 12 players is at 19,405. don't think the remaining 5 players will be drafted. total rebs are: 4806 drebs, and 1313 orebs. total pts: 9170, tot asts: 2174. fouls: 1615, t.o.'s 1351, blks and stls, both 600+

overview: i like the balance on this team. though this team is built around pierce, i still think it's magic's team. of all the players i have ever drafted 1st, magic seems to be the easiest one to build around. right from the start, he provides, dimes, boards, 3's, efg%, fta's, and some def. good bang for the buck (8.4m) for a 47m league. it was my thinking that of i can get a great dishman, then pierce could increase his fg% a little, provided he had room to operate. i think he has the room on this team. marques was a luxury pick because at this point, i didn't need 3's, so i could draft a rebounding sf with good efg%. i had noah pegged as soon as i drafted marques. the first 3 players had high usage, and i thought noah's 17% would fit nicely. same with dalembert's 15%, and they both had nice dreb%'s.

i like the round 6 choices of humphries and miller. good reb%'s, lot's of 3's. lot's of dimes. not much def, but excellent efg% the odl is a tough league, and i've figured it out, if you have one weakness on your team, it will be exploited. i tried to draft a solid squad from top to bottom. for me, it seems easier to do if i draft magic first. was surprised as hell he dropped to 17th! a gift.

FYI the rosters on page 3- Kirilenko and Jamison are on the wrong teams.

Too many fouls, and I wonder how the diffused rebounding will work. Collossal 3's, good fta's, good steals very low turnovers. Should be ok if I don't get killed on the foul Line or Defensive rebounds.

I feel alright about my first draft team, not perfect but I think its a nice squad. Garnett and Pippen gave me a nice base to work with despite their salaries. I almost went with Mourning as a pf, but I was worried about running out of money so I went with a cheaper option in Randolph. I may regret that pick, but he should be a + when it comes to possessions (13 offreb 24 defreb 24 usage with 2 topg). Damon Jones fit the team perfectly so that was a no brainer in the fourth round. I was mad when Jr Smith went ahead of me in round 5, he would have fit my team nicely pushing Pippen and Garnett down to their natural positions for a couple of mins a game. I may be better off with Clifford Ray though so maybe that was a good thing. We should out rebound most teams when hes on the court. Going into round 6, I made the decision that adding threes was more important than a scrub big man. In Ryan Anderson I get a guy in the usage range I needed, some 3s, some boards, and he'll push Garnett down to Pf/C for a couple of mins a game. In Brent Price I get more assists than I really need but two point guards with 60% efg. So yeah, a couple of other guys to round out the roster and I feel good about it.

Think this team has an excellent chance to win a lot of games.  They have 1300 threes and very strong rebounding.  Their fouls per min is .079 and TOV% is 13.6.  Just wondering if my Terrell Brandon pick will be the achillies heel.  He has slightly more usage than Howard who is much more efficent scorer.  But hoping it wont be too much of a deteriment becuase they are very close and all I have is a tier 3 and two tier 4.
