Your idea of "terrible" and MLB's idea of "terrible" might not be the same. Without question, MLB is far less likely to make knee-jerk decisions.
You have no idea how accountable umps are held. You're just guessing because you haven't seen "MLB FIRES UMP ON THE SPOT!!!" headlines.
I find it laughable that you think umps make bad calls out of spite. Most are bang-bang plays. They really don't have time to think "Jeter hit it. Youk, Beckett and Valentine are dicks. If it's close, I'm calling him safe." It's borderline idiotic to think umps "plan" to make bad calls. As for ejections, I believe those are more "slow boils". So, yes, I can see a quick ejection if a manager has been riding an ump for three days. He's thought it out and decided, if the manager comes out of the dugout, he's gone.
