What Do You Think Of The New HBD Design? Topic

Now that the update is live, and I'm using it to do my "day-to-day" stuff with my regular teams (one at end of season, one in regular season, one in spring training), I'm liking it more and more than I was when I was testing it in the test worlds (and I had reported a number of bugs there).

To address Mike's concerns about roster moves being more of a pain in the *** . . . they're not.  It's pretty much the same number of mouse clicks and page navigation as before.  Maybe a check box to check, or a button to click, might be in a slightly different place or have a different name, but that's a trivial thing that you get used to pretty quickly.

I do around 99% of my HBD stuff on a PC.  I only use my phone or tablet to look at things (mostly, game results) if I'm out, or to make simple tweaks that need to be made before the next game cycle because I'm not going to be near a PC.  The update seems to handle those things in a better way that before.

Maybe it's a different experience for those who manage their teams primarily through a mobile device.  But as primarily a PC user, I find the different look to be not a big deal, and the minor functionality enhancements quite useful.  Nothing, to me, has been a step in the wrong direction.

I could've written almost the same exact post. My only quibble: the color themes are difficult to pick up with my eyes; I'd like more contrast back.

I'm almost positive that I get to determine what's more of a pain in the *** to me.    But thanks nonetheless.

And I don't have a problem with the color scheme so, obviously, since we get to determine problems for others, hypnotoad is wrong.

No, I am always correct.

Maybe.  Except this time.

Anyway, I was just being sarcastic because tec's telling me that I don't find player moves to be cumbersome.   I'm not complaining because change is bad.  I know why this was done.   I'm not complaining because I'm looking for a reason to leave.   I was in the first world so I've enjoyed the game as long as anyone.   I'm not complaining because I like to complain.   I've been accused of being the biggest WifS apologist on the site.    I simply made a comment because I don't like the order of the front page and because, after seeing an injury, I said "Bah, **** it.  I don't feel like messing with this right now.  Simmy can handle my line-ups/rotation/bullpen for a couple of cycles".   That doesn't happen.

Yeah I get it, and everyone's experience is going to be different. I've become more accustomed to it, and have not experienced of lot of these pesky problems that I've been reading about, so that's good.
Obviously the color schemes are going to be one of the most subjective parts of the new experience. Being able to customize display would help with that but that's a whole new can of worms.

Perhaps I should have said "In my opinion, they're not".  Because, in my opinion, they're not.  Same mouse clicks, same page navigation, from my experience.

Maybe you do your roster moves in a different way.

You thought you were wrong once, but you were mistaken about that.

I thought I was pretty clear about how I do roster moves/line-up changes.

Anyway, in ST in Coop, I found it to be more of a pain in the *** resting players.    We have the same drop down for pitchers but a different look for position players.  That doesn't even make sense.

OK, I'll give you that.  I haven't reached a point where I start resting position players in Coop yet.

So yeah.  That is different.

I like the other changes on the lineup page, though.  Moving players from bench to lineup is much better, especially when you're doing a number of changes to the lineup and reassigning positions.  Far better than the old way, in my opinion.

I don't know that it's far better or far worse.    I just find it to be slightly a bit of the pain in the ***.   If I want to swap #1 and #6 in the order, no big deal.    If I want to make several changes, I'm not a fan.   And, if there's an injury, it's several changes.   So, as I said, I let it sit for a couple of cycles.   Just didn't feel like messing with it and the only time that's happened before was during a massive hangover that made keystrokes sound like church bells.
10/20/2015 11:25 AM
I'll disagree.  I think it's much better when making several changes to your lineup.  Many times in the old UI, I would make multiple changes, think I was good, his save and get a message "You only have 8 players in your DH lineup", or "You have 10 players in your lineup", or "You have two players in the same position" or "You have two players in the same spot in the batting order", or some such nonsense, and would then have to figure out what the problem is.

The new UI eliminates most of those possibilities, and makes it visually much easier to identify where the problem is when you do make a mistake.

10/20/2015 11:41 AM
I guess I wasn't as prone to those mistakes as you were.    Now I'm "WTF?  Why is he hitting 3rd?  I want him batting 5th.   And how in the hell did that guy end up 5th?"   I'll repeat, not the end of the world.   Just more cumbersome.

Why can't they make the homepage customizable? That way you change the links to your own liking. Want links at the top and standings on the bottom? You should be able to move them around how you llike
