No criticism is allowed to be made of Palestinians, none at all. Even Yang has been forced to apologize.

Just another protected group. Another biased narrative.

I am just hoping this wakes up my Jewish friends on the left (myself an agnostic Jew), that they may see the insidious ways that the modern left works.
It's insane to me that you'll make this criticism of the left (which might be accurate, I don't like Hamas but I do know that a lot of lefties are dogmatic) but won't do the same of the other side. My only statements have been that bombing children, colonization, and ethnostates are all bad, yet I've repeatedly been called antisemitic despite being a Jew myself.
The bombing of children is obviously bad. That being sad, a country should also have the right to defend itself. My contention (and not really mine but that of people much smarter and informed than me...I am no expert on the Middle East) is that Hamas has, through its actions, put Palestinian children in harm's way.

And who do you want me to criticize from the right? Dick Cheney? W. Bush? Because I absolutely will, the neocon program effed up this American century so far.

Personally, I think Biden is a puppet prez, but he's nowhere near as bad as W.

I wish Trump would go away, but I think it'll be clear that the world was a safer place when he was in charge than someone like Biden. Time will tell, I may certainly (and hopefully) be wrong.

But doesn't it just feel like the other shoe is about to drop?

Oops I forgot, the left loves the Cheneys now.

The death of children is bad. Israel does not intentionally bomb children or kill children or recklessly do it.
tjey give warnings most of the time before they bomb buildings or dwellings ie the 7 story evacuated building they bombed a few days ago.

obviously children have been killed in wars by the good guys in just wars in modern times.

how often is Israel accused of atrocities or the USA when others who intentionally bomb population centers looking for mass casualties intentionally ignored.

that is proof of why the Jews need and are entitled to their homeland officially given to them after world war 2 which was to be the Jewish homeland with Arabs in it and most stayed before all the Arab countries tried to destroy Israel.
The Arabs who stayed have the best standard of living of any in the Middle East and don’t have a monarch or shariah law. They don’t want to live anywhere else because they can’t get it better anywhere else unless to come to the USA.

What is Israel defending itself from? They're the one gaining land. They're the one driving Palestinians from their homes. Are they defending themselves from Palestine existing to begin with? From **** that happened decades ago?

Yes, Hamas is bad and does some bad things. But you could apply the logic of "I'm just defending myself, they put themselves in harms way" with any conflict at any time, and justify any war crime. Saddam put the thousands of killed Iraqis in harms way. Who cares what we do? The Houthis put Yemeni children in harms way. When the Native Americans attacked us (after we stole their land) they put themselves in harms way. The Vietnamese put themselves in harms way.

If you ignore the initial reason for the conflict, and start your frame immediately after a Hamas attack, well, yeah, Israel is just defending themselves.

What's frustrating to me, gg, is that you will point out something you perceive as wrong on the left, but don't do the same for the right which is infinitely worse. You then do a Motte and Bailey where you pretend that "both sides are bad" but in reality support the right on every key issue. All the **** you criticize the left for applies 10000x more to Trump's GOP, yet you essentially ignore their behavior.

I'm anticipating you saying, "well, everyone else here ***** on the right, so I have to point out flaws on the left" but that's clearly not your political drive since you clearly support one over the other.

As for foreign policy, seems like Biden has been OK so far? I don't approve of him stalling on Afghanistan. We'll see what happens on 9/11. The only reason the delay would make sense is if Biden has a peace deal planned with the Taliban. Not likely. That said, Trump's agreement put Biden's admin in a bad position. Seems like he's going to potentially get us back in the Iran deal, which exceeds my expectations. The Yemen thing is confusing; hopefully we can end that conflict.

Seems like the only defense of Trump is "he didn't get us in a new war," so if Biden meets that very low bar I'm sure he'll receive the same praise.

We don't, actually. Maybe some cringy moderate libs, but anyone left of Joe Manchin doesn't like Cheney, Liz or Dick.

Liz Cheney is far-right in her voting record. She got ousted because she doesn't fall in line with the fashy cult of personality. Good on her for doing the bare minimum.

Read the first three paragraphs of Dino's statement and imagine he's talking about Iraq, or Native Americans or any other group that we've demonized.

Maybe Israel should stop driving Palestinians out of their homes? Maybe?
5/13/2021 4:58 PM
The setters issue is recent.
the moron says that Israel should not be a Jewish state.
israel like the United States is flawed.
the recent grab by the settlers is wrong and I have said it many many times. It also involves a handful of homes which was not justification for sending hundreds of bombs into highly populated areas.

and they didn’t even wait fit the Israeli Supreme Court to rule.
one bad thing and it is very bad does not justify terror on an entire country subjecting its own people to death from self defense retaliation.

again - the Palestinians turned down peace with half of jerusulam and pre 1967 borders several times.
they reap what they sow and the Arab world is sick or them. They are pariahs and the Arab countries give them very minuscule financial help or moral support.

notice the crickets right now?

I think Dino makes a really good point here about the best standard of living in the Middle East.

It is the Palestinians that have rejected overtures of statehood, no?

My area of interest vis a vis Israel mostly has to do with the city of Nazareth. I have a very distant relative from there. As far as I know, the current population is majority Arab and standard of living, if one only assesses Nazareth alone, is higher than most other Middle Eastern cities.
5/13/2021 5:10 PM
And no shariah law which is terror.
not just overtures of peace - all the land and e jerusulam occupied in 1967 after they and the Arab countries tried to destroy Israel and the Arab people’s lost the war and land.
5/13/2021 5:19 PM (edited)
The peace offer plan was made with Clinton and since then.
they refused.
this is why over time more and more Arab countries have abandoned them and prefer Israel.

Yeah, I don't disagree with anything said here. I'm not going to comment on the history as much, I need to do more research.

I have repeatedly said that the idea of an Israel existing is fine. I don't like the idea of a "Jewish state." I would say the same about any religious or ethnic group. I don't like ethnostates. I would hope that everyone here would agree with that.

That doesn't mean that Israel should cede their government to people who would want to oppress Jews, but it also don't mean that Israel should be a "Jewish state" either.
