No criticism is allowed to be made of Palestinians, none at all. Even Yang has been forced to apologize.
Just another protected group. Another biased narrative.
I am just hoping this wakes up my Jewish friends on the left (myself an agnostic Jew), that they may see the insidious ways that the modern left works.
It's insane to me that you'll make this criticism of the left (which might be accurate, I don't like Hamas but I do know that a lot of lefties are dogmatic) but won't do the same of the other side. My only statements have been that bombing children, colonization, and ethnostates are all bad, yet I've repeatedly been called antisemitic despite being a Jew myself.
The bombing of children is obviously bad. That being sad, a country should also have the right to defend itself. My contention (and not really mine but that of people much smarter and informed than me...I am no expert on the Middle East) is that Hamas has, through its actions, put Palestinian children in harm's way.
And who do you want me to criticize from the right? Dick Cheney? W. Bush? Because I absolutely will, the neocon program effed up this American century so far.
Personally, I think Biden is a puppet prez, but he's nowhere near as bad as W.
I wish Trump would go away, but I think it'll be clear that the world was a safer place when he was in charge than someone like Biden. Time will tell, I may certainly (and hopefully) be wrong.
But doesn't it just feel like the other shoe is about to drop?
What is Israel defending itself from? They're the one gaining land. They're the one driving Palestinians from their homes. Are they defending themselves from Palestine existing to begin with? From **** that happened decades ago?
Yes, Hamas is bad and does some bad things. But you could apply the logic of "I'm just defending myself, they put themselves in harms way" with any conflict at any time, and justify any war crime. Saddam put the thousands of killed Iraqis in harms way. Who cares what we do? The Houthis put Yemeni children in harms way. When the Native Americans attacked us (after we stole their land) they put themselves in harms way. The Vietnamese put themselves in harms way.
If you ignore the initial reason for the conflict, and start your frame immediately after a Hamas attack, well, yeah, Israel is just defending themselves.
What's frustrating to me, gg, is that you will point out something you perceive as wrong on the left, but don't do the same for the right which is infinitely worse. You then do a Motte and Bailey where you pretend that "both sides are bad" but in reality support the right on every key issue. All the **** you criticize the left for applies 10000x more to Trump's GOP, yet you essentially ignore their behavior.
I'm anticipating you saying, "well, everyone else here ***** on the right, so I have to point out flaws on the left" but that's clearly not your political drive since you clearly support one over the other.
As for foreign policy, seems like Biden has been OK so far? I don't approve of him stalling on Afghanistan. We'll see what happens on 9/11. The only reason the delay would make sense is if Biden has a peace deal planned with the Taliban. Not likely. That said, Trump's agreement put Biden's admin in a bad position. Seems like he's going to potentially get us back in the Iran deal, which exceeds my expectations. The Yemen thing is confusing; hopefully we can end that conflict.
Seems like the only defense of Trump is "he didn't get us in a new war," so if Biden meets that very low bar I'm sure he'll receive the same praise.
