I don’t want to beat a dead horse, but I am going to beat a dead horse.
The whole idea with time slots and a twenty minute window was the time slot, not the twenty minute window. You don’t have twenty minutes to make your pick, you have however long it has been since your last pick. I have been in drafts where I made a pick and then didn’t pick again for two days. I have been in drafts where there was only one person ahead of me and I’m thinking that I’m about to pick and then I pick like 12 hours later. How many people here remember Peggy?
I don’t know what the point of a two hour time slot is. That is taking two days to make it through one round.
Having a specific time slot (20 minutes, 30 minutes, I don’t care) eliminates being one pick away and then having the guy in front of you take 24 hours to make his pick. I know people don’t like refreshing for hours. If you know when you’re going to pick, just get on ten minutes early to make sure that your guy is there. If he isn’t, you still have thirty minutes to make your pick. That is plenty of time. Doesn’t the NFL give teams ten minutes?
Anyhow, I want the draft to go faster, but I want the vast majority to be happy with whatever we decide to do in the future. Also, I was talking about speeding things up the last half of the draft, not round one.
