FC Dynasty Cup XII - FC Kingston - Champion Topic

The evening games are in on this Independence Day. The most impactful game came out of Group C where FC Trojans of SC was in a do or die situation against group leader Metropolitan Screaming Eagles. Four different Trojans put the ball in the back of the net, which more than offset the solo scoring effort by Metro Eagles forward Filip Lonnqvist, who scored twice. The problem with the Trojans win was that the 4-2 score probably wasn't enough to save the club from elimination. As it stands, the Trojans and Burnaby Hillbillies are tied with 10 points. However, the Hillbillies hold the tiebreaker by a +5 goal differential and have won the 2nd tiebreaker (away goals,) meaning that The Trojans need Burnaby to lose by 6 goals to last place Arsenal F.C. It's not impossible, but Burnaby would need to break form in a big way to drop the final game by that large a margin...although some crazy things have happened in previous Cups.

Swamp City Dragons went from third to first based on its 5-0 clubbing of Fianna AFC in Group F action. De Vante Greer scored the last two goals to put the game away in the 2nd half. You can throw a blanket over the top three teams as they are separated by only two points, although Swamp City, which has a game in hand, is in control of its own destiny.

The defending Champs Rushmore FC drew their third game in a row and now sit at a very unusual 0-0-3. The game against SwampDragons United was as statistically even as a 1-1 tie would suggest, as neither team established themselves offensively. It was also the third straight tie in Group A, as the standings are becoming a bit messy below kangaroo fc, who is beginning to look like the group favorite. As low scoring as all of these games have been, Group A is looking like a Group of Death.

To round out the day, Der Kaiserlich-Österreichische Hodensack beat Fußball-Club Köln 01/07 e. V. 1-0 in front of 23,954 bored stiff fans in Vienna, Austria. The Balls (Hodensack is German for gonads) scored their first goal of the tournament when Yale Guzman beat the offside trap and notched the most meaningful tally if his young professional career. The result shouldn't impact the Group H transfer spots as there is still a whopping 12 goal differential between the Austrians and the top two clubs.

Today is the last big day of the Group Stage, with 9 games being played. After this, there are only a handful of contests, primarily in Group A and Group H.

The Group G winner take all contest between Joe's team Of a Thousand Corpses and VB Hibernian has finally been put on the docket and will be played tomorrow.

I'll start updating the morning results now.

Five games this morning and one produced a playoff clincher. FC Trojans of SC were all watching the TV as Arsenal F.C. hosted Burnaby Hillbillies in the final game of Group C. Burnaby saw its goal differential advantage shrink by two after the Trojans victory last night and were looking to just not get blown out of this one. Arsenal, on the other hand, was playing for pride after losing 4 one goal matches on the way to being eliminated. The game began with a rare penalty kick (and in the 1st minute of the game.) Hernandez Corralero converted the penalty to give the Hillbillies the 1-0 lead but it was all Arsenal after that. Randal Boswell scored twice and the English side finally got off the schneid with a 4-2 win. For the Trojans, however, it wasn't enough as the differential shrunk from 6 to only 4, making Burnaby Hillbillies the 2nd transfer team out of the group on tiebreakers.

The other games solidified the standings but did not produce more golden tickets. kangaroo fc won a tight 2-1 game over SwampDragons United in Group A that brings the roos to the brink of clinching a spot. The Rushmore FC versus Space Olympics game later today will determine, in long measure, which teams will be advancing. FC Yenisey Krasnoyarsk won again in Group B, this time 5-3 over the crutchanators of soccer. The win shoots Krasnoyarsk up the seed chart for the playoffs and eliminates crutchanators from the competition. Volodya Zablosky scored his third hat trick of the tournament and now has a massive 11 goals to take the lead in the L'Orteil D'or .

Swamp City Dragons won a critical game in Group F, with a 4-3 home win over Fighting Ants. Rollins Scherer scored twice in a game, including the game winner in the 87th minute when he found himself all alone inside the box and blasted home the decider past a diving Nacho Moran. Swamp City sits at 10 points and is going to advance, even though they haven't mathematically clinched. The other spot is the one still up for grabs. Lastly, Club de Fútbol Deportivo Cotopaxi now has a stranglehold on the Group G standings with a 5-3 win over butterfiles united. Sceley Ballouchy bagged three as Cotopaxi dominated the game. The Colombian club can do no worse that a tiebreaker for the playoffs and they currently hold a +14 goal differential advantage...translation, they'll be earning one of the Knockout Round births.

Some big games in the pm.

Several more playoff spots were claimed this evening including both from Group B. FC Yenisey Krasnoyarsk finishes off the rare 6-0 record perfection as they beat Brighton AFC 2-1 despite being saddled with a red card in the 67th minute. Volodya Zablosky scored his 12th of the tournament as he tries to distance himself for the Golden Toe honor. Merchiston FC then took 2nd place in the group after they dominated Brighton 4-0. Blanco Amaro scored twice and, ironically, Merchiston also was handed a red card late in the contest. Merchiston will need to wait and see where they slot as far as seeding is concerned. Krasnoyarsk will be the #1 seed, so congrats to the Russians.

Idle kangaroo fc was also sent through thanks to the 3-2 Space Olympics victory over the Champs Rushmore FC. Rushmore had 2-1 lead until Olympics scored two goals late, the game winner coming off the head of veteran midfielder Gareth Carne in the 86th minute. Rushmore is now on the brink of elimination and no longer controls their own destiny. kangaroo, with 10 points, grabs the first spot out of Group A. Olympics has 8 and can clinch the other with a win in their final game. Rushmore must win their remaining two and hope Olympics loses.

To round out the evening, FC Cackalacky beat the Group F leaders Swamp City Dragons 3-1, vaulting themselves into 2nd place over Fighting Ants. Cackalacky scored all three goals in the 1st half and then survived a red card to take all three points. 102 year old Arley Movsisyan, the all time FC Dynasty Cup scoring leader, came in as a sub in the 63rd minute but couldn't spark the Swamp City comeback. The top three teams are separated by three points with only the Fianna FC home games remaining.

Four games tomorrow, including the Joe's Team Of a Thousand Corpses/VB Hibernian play in game as well as the fates of Olympics and Rushmore as Group A will be decided.

Anyone having issues making lineup changes? I’ve tried on cell phone and mobile and keep getting an error.

haven’t tried on desktop yet cause I’m at work.

Mine only does that in safari browser. Works fine in firefox
7/5/2023 10:17 PM
Yep I brought to staffs attention and they blew me off. Never works on iPhone safari which sucks.

Even on my desktop, sometimes I have problems swapping players into the lineup...and I use Firefox.

If your problem is you can't move a player between available and starter, I use a work around where I click on the starter position I want to remove, then click on the available player's name I want to add (not the blank position box you normally would blue highlight,) close his profile after it pops up and finally hit Swap Player button.

I don't use mobile/cell so if it is specific to that, I have no clue.

Down Goes Frazier!

We are guaranteed to crown a new Champion in Cup XII as Rushmore FC was officially eliminated from the competition after losing to kangaroo fc this morning 1-0, marking the official end to their glorious reign. Quain Bowne tallied the only score in the 52nd minute as Rushmore's offensive woes continued, having scored only 6 goals in 5 Group Stage games. The result automatically sends Space Olympics into the playoffs as their 8 points can not be caught. The kangaroo win also hands them the top spot in Group A.

The other game this morning was a 4-2 win by butterfiles united over Der Kaiserlich-Österreichische Hodensack in a game that was mildly surprising because it was actually competitive. butterfiles held a narrow 3-2 lead until Gomes Martínez scored his 2nd of the game in the 80th minute to seal the deal. Club de Fútbol Deportivo Cotopaxi benefitted from the Hodensack loss by clinching a transfer spot and butterfiles is now a result away from joining them.

A couple more games later on. 12 of the 16 Knockout Round births have been earned. One of the last four will be revealed later today.

For those of you in Group F, I have spoken to the coach at Fianna AFC. Please be on the lookout over the next couple of days for challenges to be sent your way. The deadline is 7pm tomorrow, so check a couple/three times between now and then, if you would.

The 13th spot has been claimed as the deciding game in Group G has gone final. Joe's Team Of a Thousand Corpses held a tenuous 1 point led over VB Hibernian and had the advantage of the home field. However, Argentine forward Leonardo Sarmiento made an immediate statement for the visitors right out of the gate, when he scored in the first 60 seconds on an unassisted play that easily beat DEAD goalie Miska Kantola. Sarmiento made it 2-0 in the 18th minute when he went unassisted again into the corner of the net. Hibernian didn't let up and kept the pedal down, racing into halftime up 4-1. Thousand Corpses tried to keep in contact when Artur Marthaler got one back in the 58th minute but Mohamed Saylor capped off his third of the night 20 minutes later as VB Hibernian earns the final group spot with its 5-3 victory, eliminating DEAD from the competition.

In Group A, Space Olympics improved its seed with a 3-2 win over SwampDragons United. Vincente Ontiveros scored twice for the French club and Dionte Leeds added two for Dragons United in the losing effort, that was doomed from the start when defender Elliston Blundell blundered his way into a red card three minutes into the game. Considering Dragons United played the entire match a man down, 3-2 is a very strong performance.

Tomorrow, kangaroo fc goes for the #2 seed if they can get the win and Group H tallies some more games.

I am also happy to say that, once again and due to the awesomeness of the coaches that participate in this tournament, all games have been scheduled. Thank you for making my job as easy as it can be. The final Group Stage game is on July 10th, meaning the Knockouts will begin on the 12th.
