With KAJ, Jerry Lucas, and Oscar I feel like I could plug in myself and any one of you and play at least .500 basketball. I'm out here popping 0-5's like Tic Tacs. There is bad (see: my results last savage) and then there is pathetic beyond comprehension (see: me now).

I said it in Discord during the draft... I like the start, as you set yourself up to grab some of those really high value per minute, lower minute guys starting in round 4. But you didn't do that, so you kind of wasted the edge those three guys give you.

I went from 5 playoff teams to 1 in 3 days.

My teams have been all over the place when it comes to the playoffs as well. 1 some days 4 others. A couple games ago I was at 3 playoff teams all division leaders. Now I have no division leaders and 4 playoff teams.

2-18 in the last 20 games.

NOBODY should be that bad. If defies effing logic.
7/23/2024 3:38 PM
Another back to back 0-5 showing. What a flat out embarrassment.
7/30/2024 3:54 PM
Another 0-5.

Its not even that I just don't think my team is this bad. I don't think any of these teams, ever in savage history, should be able to go 0-5 so many times in a short span.
7/31/2024 3:17 AM
Another cycle, another 0-5. Changes are useless. When the final credits roll on the Bounce of the Dragon, my part played will have been Scorched Lizard #1.
Or perhaps, in an impressive dual roll, Dragon Turd.

And an appropriate 0-5 to close it out. If we were tracking those, I would surely have set the record.

Sounds like Ben Simmons has made another enemy?

without question, he joins my never, ever, ever no matter what list

That pick torpedoed this entire thing. My fault for expecting something he couldn't provide, but he very fully provided nothing.

I had Steelers as my secret santa

Hakeem is a fine start at 20. Not quite the best player on my board, but strategically getting a ton of stocks and defense at both positions is a good approach and Dreamy has had a lot of success with some good owners.

Embiid is a great player and I like taking a bit of risk on another FC player rather than the traditional guard compliment. Unless you’re rob, you probably need to take some risks if you want to win this.

Getting Paul George in the 3rd is a really good get and good fit for this team. You’ve assembled really good D, rebounds, usage and 3’s. I had PG adding a quality top 5 season last year and he’s great value in the early 3rd.

Another really good pick in Favors. With Hakeem and PG you have plenty of minutes and you can spend another pick on a low minute, high quality guy. There’s a lot to like here.

Donyell Marshall in the 5th is really good. Love the 3’s, D and boards. Very clean player too. This is a great draft so far. Excited to see what you do with guards.

A man after my own heart here. Fat Lever is a great selection and pairs well with PG and the 3’s you picked up with Donyell. Rob said it best in discord – the guy is a winner and people focus too much on shots he doesn’t make and not enough on the steals and boards. I’ve had him at least twice and you’ll be very happy with him. I don’t have the data to back this up, but I swear he outperforms IRL in the playoffs. Or at least it feels like it.

This is the first pick I don’t love. We’re getting to the point in the draft where you can only mess up so bad, this isn’t terrible. He has one or two seasons that rate our pretty good. Don’t love the TO’s and his best season he doesn’t rebound that much. Doesn’t shoot 3’s, but if he’s behind Lever and starting probably one season when Lever falls off – and you can fill the 3’s in the positions you had at SG/SF that’s fine. I like Terrell Brandon a little more, but not by a huge amount. Maybe score that one Scottie Barnes season at PG. Yummy.

Tobias is a solid back up to PG. Gives you some of the 3’s and boards and a few assists. Good solid pick

McCray I do not get. Maybe you need minutes at SG, but he’s a tough fill. Doesn’t shoot much behind a high usage guy PG and doesn’t shoot 3’s. He’s otherwise solid fill. If you’re playing him at SF bleech! There were a lot of better options like Okongwu, Covington, Marvin Williams.

Bellamy is a fine filler in the FC. Doesn’t do anything great or terrible.

Lamar Odom??? Maybe look for quality minutes over quantity

Did you draft Sengun to go to Hakeems’ big man camp and work on his footwork?

Overall I really like this team. I haven’t eval’d other teams or really looked very closely, but I would guess you’re definitely in the hunt for top 10, maybe top 5 or better depending on how you build it out. Nice job!

Oh yeah, this is what I wrote about tarheel1991 who I had:
Tarheel1991

I have my own method for netting out players contributions, I won’t go into detail but I will tell you how these players shake out. It is definitely superior to straight comparisons people usually give. I am only scoring the usable seasons, assume if I include the non-usable seasons they are much worse.

Erving, Julius 21
Usable seasons: 5
Ranking: I think he is probably the 8th best guard
I’ve com around big time on Erving. He doesn’t shoot threes but every good team in Savage is scrounging for threes by the end of the draft because the players who shoot threes at the top of the draft either go too early or go earlier than they should. If you don’t get one of LeBron, Durant, Harden, Curry, Kawhi, Jokic or CP3… maybe just wait.
I have Erving as a neutral on shooting, a huge plus on rebounding, a slight negative on assists, neutral on turnovers, a big positive on stocks, big positive on defense and big positive on fouls.

Wallace, Ben 28
Usable seasons: 4
Ranking: I have him as a third rounder
I have talked a lot about Ben Wallace with respect to Savage over the years so I won’t rehash it. I just don’t know why you wouldn’t take a higher leverage player here and get someone like Camby or Mutombo in the third versus getting someone barely better in the high second. I have him as a big negative on shooting, big positive on rebounding, slight negative on assists, slight positive on turnovers, positive on stocks, big positive on fouls and defense.

Kemp, Shawn 52
Usable seasons: 5
Ranking: Mid to late second
I am a big Kemp fan. People get turned off by the fouls and turnovers, but because of his free throw rate and stock rate, I think he turns it into about neutral there if not a net positive. Big positive in defense, positive in shooting, positive in rebounding, neutral assists, big negative turnovers, positive stocks, negative fouls.

Porter, Michael 93
Usable seasons: 3
Ranking: 6th rounder
I’ve had him, he isn’t great. He really doesn’t offer much outside of shooting and his usage isn’t even high enough to make that much of a threat. Not the biggest fan. Negative on defense, big positive on shooting, neutral rebounding, big negative on assists, big positive on turnovers, negative stocks, neutral fouls.

Conley, Mike 100
Usable seasons: 1 / 5
Ranking: 8-12th round
Really he only has one season I am stoked about but he has five seasons that can player spot minutes as needed. He is never great at any point and in Savage it is better to maximize greatness than it is to minimize suckiness. Neutral defense, positive in shooting, big negative in rebounding, positive assists, neutral turnovers, negative stocks, positive fouls.

Horford, Al 141
Usable seasons: 5
Ranking 6-7th round
Sticking with the minimizing suckiness theme. Negative defense, neutral shooting, negative rebounding, big positive on assists, positive turnovers, negative stocks, big positive on fouls.

Blaylock, Mookie 148
Usable seasons: 2
Ranking: 8-12th round
Pretty good for limited amount of time. Gets **** on a lot but no worse than the other short time players. Cool name. Big positive on defense, negative shooting, negative rebounding, positive assists, positive stocks, positive fouls.

Unseld, Wes 189
Usable seasons: 0
Ranking: Undraftable
This guy sucks

Sabonis, Arvydas 196
Usable seasons: 4
Ranking: 6th rounder
Getting Arvydas in the 10th is robbery. I wanted him but couldn’t use a C only. Portland and tobacco king. Negative defense, slight positive shooting, positive rebounding, positive assists, negative turnovers, neutral stocks, negative fouls

Aldridge, LaMarcus 237
Usable seasons: 5
Ranking: 5 -10th round
One of the best picks of the draft. I have always wanted to use him but never had the right fit for him. He is an excellent Savage player. Neutral defense, negative shooting, negative rebounding, neutral assists, massive positive on turnovers, negative stocks, big positive on fouls.

Edwards, Anthony 244
Usable seasons: 1
Ranking: Late round flyer
His most recent season is pretty decent. Some people like the season before that. This player type is tough for me. Neutral defense, neutral shooting, neutral rebounding, neutral assists, neutral turnovers, neutral stocks, negative fouls

English, Alex 285
Usable seasons: 3
Ranking: 8-12th round
He should get drafted more often. Slight positive on defense, neutral shooting, slight positive rebounding, slight negative assists, neutral turnovers, neutral stocks, neutral fouls.

Overall: 38 usable seasons. I have him in the 12-18 range, numbers have him on the lower end of that range but my confidence in tarheel pushes him up higher in that range.

Oh wow, I interpreted the assignment much differently lol.

I wrote this for PB&J:

'Twas the week before Savage, and now it's time for reviews//
Not a user was stirring (the pot), not even a BDS9992;
The drafts were all done with the utmost care,
In hopes that a league crown soon would be there….

On a blistering hot day, the local mall was bustling with eager faces and festive cheer, a stark contrast to the winter wonderland one might expect. In the center of this lively scene, amidst twinkling lights and holiday decor, sat King Robusk, the reigning champion of the Savage league. Perched on a grand throne, he was ready to hear the wishes of good boys and girls, much like Santa Claus himself.

Children lined up, chattering excitedly about their Savage-mas dreams. And there, among them, stood our protagonist—little Damian Lillard. With a sparkle in his eye and a bounce in his step, he approached King Robusk, clutching his list tightly.

King Robusk, with a warm smile and a twinkle in his eye, leaned forward and asked, "What would you like for Savage-mas, little Damian?"

Without hesitation, Damian declared, "A defender... who can rebound!"

King Robusk chuckled, "And what else might you want?"

Damian's eyes lit up as he repeated, "Another defender who can rebound!"

This exchange went on and on, over and over, each time with Damian fervently asking for another defender who could rebound. King Robusk listened patiently, his smile growing wider with each request.

Finally, with a gentle laugh, King Robusk said, "Well, that's all good and well, little Damian, but don't be greedy! Save some rebounders for the rest of the boys and girls!"

The crowd around them laughed and applauded, amused by Damian's single-minded determination. It was clear to everyone that Damian's wish list was not just a whimsical request but a well-thought-out strategy for his team. His lineup, a star-studded cast of prolific scorers like himself, would be bolstered by a brigade of the best rebounders in the league, ensuring that every missed shot was an opportunity for a second chance.

And so, with his heart set on a team built around his vision, little Damian Lillard left the throne, his wish granted in spirit by the wise and benevolent King Robusk. The holiday spirit filled the mall, and as the sun set on that blistering hot day, the dreams of Savage-mas began to take shape in the hearts of all the league's players.

PBandJ, my wish for you…that 1:53 EST shall henceforth be “Dame Time”

David Robinson -

I guess I can kind of see what you like so much about him. his efg and rebounding are pretty good (although not great) defense is a 9.9/10 and his turnovers and ft% aren't too bad. no glaring weaknesses is always a good way to start savage.

jimmy Butler- although his efg is usually on the low end he is very efficient with the rest of his usage, great at getting to the line and really low tov. His rebounding is a nice advantage for a pg although it appears he will not be playing there. Imo he has quite a few seasons worthy of being a pg and not sure if I like him as much as a back court pairing with Kidd, Penny and Price.

Patrick Ewing – Robinson can’t play Pf so Ewing will need which in at least 2-3 seasons may actually be a bit of an inconvenience. I like Ewing a lot good efg in 3 seasons, great D, his fts are pretty good but it just feels like each of his seasons has some fatal flaws, rebounding bad, tov bad, fp48 above 6, low efg, he’s all over the place although I’m sure you can figure out which seasons are best better than me.

Jason Kidd – he's got a mix of low usage seasons with his high usage low efficiency seasons. He provides more good perimeter D, Stls should be a major advantage for your team and you finally have some 3s. On the bad side he doesn’t seem to get to the line a lot, he mostly has poor efg and turnovers. I know he was technically a steal but I don’t like the fit and think there were better guard options, maybe drexler?

chris Andersen – although he’s low minutes he provides good efg, rebounding, defense, and blocks at SF. Fantastic pick and needed to start turning this draft around.

penny Hardaway – I assume he gets used twice? Maybe 2 extra low minute backups although with all the pgs you drafted I assume that isn’t necessary. His 96 season I’m a huge fan of. He'll give you even more good guard defense minutes as well although Idk if that's what was needed.
brandan Wright- another superstar low minute sf. If I’m nitpicking, I suppose his drebounding is definitely light but overall a good pick.

Markkanen – I assumed his last two seasons would’ve been usable at SF but they aren’t. I suppose both could be used as pf but that really hurts your rebounding. His 3s, low tov, and efg I think were definitely necessary for this team so I suppose the sacrifice is worth it. With the players around him his bad d really shouldn’t be a problem.

dwight Powell – jeez another pick being used a high efg, low usage sf. His defense isn’t very good and idk who will be covering him considering he can’t go to SG and the bigs can’t go to sf.

mark Price – well you are increasing your passing strength and he has some good efg options but his rebounding is awful and I just don’t know if you needed another PG.

David West – those 2 warrior seasons are fun low minute backup SF seasons. I also think he’s at least slightly usable as a backup high usage big which you probably needed. A nice find late but you probably are unhappy with how much you actually need to play him.

Thomas Bryant – he as at least 2 usage points in most of his seasons so he should be a fine backup big. Efg is very good and rebounding is alright although the defense is bad.

This is difficult because I really don’t like the team but I’m sure you’ll suck every ounce of talent out of this team and turn it into a contender. Seems to me like you will be dangerously low on rebounding, you have some really low turnover players but some really bad ones as well so its very hard to tell how that shakes out. SF positon should be a strength with your 4 headed monster. Steals, block, defense and assists should be a major advantage and I suppose at least make sure you stay in the top half. My prediction is there is little to no change of a 4peat. 8-12th place finish.
