I attribute it to the company I was keeping. BastanRedsox, toddleduc and The Taint are all outstanding players. Based on experience and the value of having played a lot of non-live in addition to a million or so live games, if I were picking from the four of us I'd have taken Taint or toddleduc first, then flipped a coin between Bastan and myself. So that didn't bother or surprise me at all.

Sabre was very welcoming... sent josh & I a welcome to the team sitemail and welcomed our ideas. I sent a sitemail out to everyone saying "I'm not sure how you all go about doing things, but we generally sitemailed our whole tribe any ideas for teams. Put 'em all on the table & discuss them. Sabre does essentially the same thing so it was an easy transition...

I'm not shy so I brought up the '94 Expos as a possibility... but they were shot down I think because of the lack of a good -handed thrower to play at 2B? In the end we narrowed it down to 5 teams and all sent in votes. A very democratic effort which is good for team morale. I preferred the '93 Giants for the more stable pitching- but the majority went with Seattle, which was fine by me, too. All 5 teams had some fun hitters, so I was cool with whatever in the end. Ironically- someone brought up the 94 Braves-- but I thought the pen was a liability and the offense lacked any punch. That's what I get for thinking, lol... so... (4-1) now...

Winning is everything. None of us want to lose and have the chance to possibly be voted off. I feel its more important to win than interact with others.

Very .. I am not going anywhere still undefeated and somehow hoping to get a win at least for our tribe If I can find dtown

Delta- What went wrong in this challenge?

Well apparently that powerful Mariners hitting was no matchup for the Braves staff. I thought they'd be able to knock around any staff they went up against I was wrong. Those Braves were probably the worst possible matchup for us.

Sabre- What other teams were up for consideration besides the Mariners?

We actually did a lot of research. We considered 94 Braves, Yankees and Expos (that was our favorite until we discovered they had y bats but no one who threw y). 93 Giants and 96 Mariners.

After asking for feedback the group seemd to favor Giants or Mariners, so I called for a vote between the two. Mariners prevailed by a vote. But ultimately as the captain i take the responsibilty for the final decision.

Who would have thought Roberto Kelly would hit 74 HRs in 4 games? Again, nice job PL.

well if i get voted off for that reason so be it.
Think it would be unfair but I have a job and family and am not on here 24 hours a day.
I may be booted for being a lone wolf too-worked pretty well the 1st time but may not this go around
Uh, nice try. You seemed to have plenty of time this weekend to post in other forums. You just needed to post ONE word in this one "REPLAY".
I guess this is the portion where I stick my nose in, despite the fact that it doesn't matter, and ask what team you personally voted for? How did you not have the foresight to select the '94 Braves who had a comprable line-up to those Mariners and one of the Top-5 best SPs in the entire sim overall in Maddux (who we didn't even have to pitch once, that's how lop-sided this was..)? And why you didn't seriously consider (you didn't mention them above, so I have to assume you didn't seriously consider them) joshkvt's selection (which was the 2nd best team BTW) in the '94 White Sox?
3/28/2010 10:03 PM
Duce (Duece lol)- How does having your 2B out of position affect your game strategy?

I don't know that game strategy changes at all, I think the selection of team was all that changed, Knowing both sides were going to be at a disadvantage you had to go with as much offense as you could and forget about the D.

Arvid just committed a "Wooooo and run" he popped in on the live Wooooo'd me and !!! LOL

Arvid,

We did consider the White Sox. I failed to mention them in the post above. (I will gladly forward the email I sent to the tribe if you need further proof.) But felt that the SP was a little too weak, with whips ranging from 1.25-1.32. Yes they had better pitching than the Mariners but we didnt feel that therir offense made up for it.

As to my personal preference, it was the 93 Giants, they had good pitching and a solid offense. But I did feel the offens of the Mariners was very strong. I went with the vote of my tribe mates and I stand by that decision, we live and die as a tribe. This time we lost and I have given your tribe props.

As to why I did not have the foresight to choose the Braves, I guess I could ask the same of you concerning the two challenges we won, why did you not have the foresight to choose the team we did? Hind sight is 20/20 my friend. Still a long way to go!! We will see who takes the next challenge.

Gee, thanks arvid. As if I'm not in enough trouble as it is

Yes, I liked the White Sox and mentioned them after doing quick preliminary research. But as I told you when we were chatting about teams, my friend, a) I never argued for using them and b) I voted to use the Mariners.

If you are searching under SPs in the draft center for the era of 90-99, those White Sox ERC#'s(when considering stats, a much better indicator than WHIP, b/c normalized stats) are stout. Their starting pitching overall was very good.

Did you mean you wanted the Giants, but voted for the Mariners?

I made the call in one challenge, the first one, and we didn't get shut out. This was pretty bad. just sayin'
