Frozen In Time 92-93 Draft Topic

As a suggestion only, I might limit the injuries to 2 because we have a ton of teams with multiple short season players.

idon't agree as this is strickly 92-93 so no 165k players from other years!

I am in agreement with metalmaster, although maybe a limit of 4 injuries would help.  That would keep ml use to a minimum.

I've got no problem with that, but two points... Anyone who has drafted to protect against injured players is suddenly behind the 8 ball. Also, given the crazy shooting percentages of some of these short season players, only 2 players out could warp reality some.

73 players to go.

We are just about going to exhaust the draft pool.

I am considering an amendment to the draft that would allow ONLY NON-CLONE, ONLY 165K PLAYERS from 91-92 and/or 93-94 to be used to round out the rosters.

I'd like to hear a majority opinion on when to implement this change, if at all. Only when it becomes absolutely necessary, or perhaps at the start of round 22, thus allowing every team one pick in each direction of the snake order?

Hmm, 73 players left, three rounds to go, 24 teams that's 72 players, I wonder who will be undrafted.

I am STRENUOUSLY against limiting injuries.   If we were going to do somehing as fundmantally altering to the game as taking out or severely ruducing injuries, that HAD to be made clear up front as the resulting change to the sim is so great that you must account for it.  It totally changes the way the game is played, and to make that change AFTER teams are drafted would be pretty flippin' lame.

I'm also in favor of sticking entirely with 92-93 players.  There are just enough, and it's perfectly okay that some of us end up with Mick Vukota and Doug Zmolek.  We'll all share in that pain together... again, this was how it was set up in the begninnig and to change it now is not very great.

Actually, my count of 73 was counting 3 more rounds plus the buffalo pick that is overdue.

I'm not sure exactly how many players are left, but by physical headcount alone, there should be enough. Just not sure how useful some of those players will be.

Thanks for the feedback guys. It's on me for not being more concrete with all the rules before we started. I'd prefer to stic to 92-93 only (adding 165 guys from other seasons was kind of an emergency contingency plan in case we ran out of players).

Hey I am Mick Vukota's college room mates ex brother in laws 3rd cousin, and I really take offense on Micks behalf on you suggesting he is the 2nd worst NHL player of the 92-93 seaon!

Three things-

1. I am fully against adding any additional players.  Like some drafted based on 6 injuries, others drafted knowing that the pool was going to be very bare at the end, and may have shaped their teams around that.

2. Ditto for injuries

EDIT FOR REREADING-
3. On my list (and I just double checked with page 1, so assuming the taken list is updated)- I have 120 players left, for the  73 picks.  87 Forwards, 32 defensemen, and Jeff Hackett.  I'll post that list shortly and encourage anyone to double check it (I am just one guy doing highlights, and as seen before, I do make mistakes), but I don't think number of players will be an issue- unless 10+ teams still need 3 defensemen.

And no worries about suggestions/trying to help pittskid- anytime you do a draft this specific, issues/gripes/confusion is bound to happen.  But PS- what is the exact plan for tomorrow (I'm an anal planner, and want to plan my day around it).

I was realy hoping to jam the last three rounds into one day. But that is pretty unrealistic.

We will stick with the same format.

Round 21 Monday

Round 22 Tues

Round 23 Wed

END OF DRAFT

Everyone should expect a sitemail on thursday with the league number. Once everyone has their team in and I get the divisions set up and verify the rosters, we'll get up and running.

THank you all for toughing it out. Drafts, while very fun intheory, are not terribly easy to conduct given the current state of simhockey.

We're almost to the good part!!!

i agree with only 92-93 players.  seems like there's enough.  i think every team will have some injury issues, but that is what the scrubs and minor leaguers are for.  :>
5/8/2011 10:39 PM
i would get a league number now so when it comes time evryone is almost in otherwise it will take at least a week before you get all the teams in!

I agree with not reducing injuries AND I purposely drafted players with low games played.....those are rules that need to be established before the draft.
