This puzzle is getting really challenging...I hate having all my early rd picks at the end.

Cal Eldred
it's a big disadvantage

I disagree. Those who have their high picks early end up taking players they won’t need later. We’re seeing some good players drop these last few rounds. There are pros and cons to having each position.

Most people aren't leaving 10-15 million in salary for 1-2 starting batters in hopes they will be available at pick 5 or 6.

Picking early is clearly an advantage. Way easier to fill in cheap players later than to fill in expensive players late

On the other hand you can get better players later in these last few rounds. Or even very high up.

I guess it depends on the franchises, but I bet there are relatively few surprises at the top of each franchise.

You should have a good idea who will be available to you at 3, 4, 5 etc.

I was slightly off on the A’s and Twins, which resulted in me actually getting better players than I expected.

In addition, having high picks late enables you to see who owners ahead of you have picked already. I was able to wait and bank on Posada with the Yanks because all 7 owners ahead of me had catchers already.

There is a difference between hoping who you might take at pick 6 of a specific franchise and knowing with 100% certainty.

If my 6th round franchise is the Yankees and I have pick 6, I would have know with 100% certainty at the time of my pick that Bernie Williams was not available. Instead, I was hoping he'd be available for me, in round 20, and he wasn't so now I have to pivot.

The same isn't true for a backup OF or a sixth RP.
