Obviously there were bad deals this FA period. Elcano and Guerrero stick out because of just how bad they are, when you see someone like TM stockpile reasonably priced ML players for less spent than what moy or patrickm spent on one player.
I'm actually surprised moy of all people panicked into that move. Not that I think he's smarter than it, but usually he keeps all that spending money around for his usually transfer to prospect budget to get a top international. He basically removed himself from that game. Which is a shame, because I thought if we were allowed to freely set budgets instead of by small increments, I might have invested in the IFA pool myself. So many teams dedicated money to pursue the top tier of free agents that not many teams are using the IFA pool this year. Vancouver will probably do well for itself. I assume dherz as well. And babypop usually gets a couple good to great guys for Kansas City.

That's true, it wasn't like he zeroed out his IFA scouting, he just dropped it by 2M, so he could have gone with like 16-18 million in prospect budget instead.
He was convinced he needed that particular upgrade to win a WS now, however - since he doesn't realize/won't admit Morrie Keller doesn't really NEED a setup man (because he could more than double his innings).
I understand the win-now thoughts - he's gonna fall off a cliff after next year.
