and..there it is. Im 90% sure my stupid signing was the guy tm was going after, knowing his needs.
Yep.  I bailed at about 45/50 mil total, stopped the madness, and settled for a light-hitting decent fielding stopgap.

Was also trying for Nash Iorg for a while, but wasn't gonna give him more than 2 (maybe 3) years.
Yeah, I had a backup guy I was gonna switch my attention to, but he got signed before I could switch over. But, I like Daniels. He's very good defensively (18 + and 0 minus plays last season) and hit about 50-70 ponits higher than my other 2 options at ss. That was the only truly weak spot left in my lineup, and I think Im sitting in good shape now.

That Iorg signing was horrible. He declined a ton already. He will be worthless after 3 years.

I dont get Bret's signing of Mclain. He's not that good, and tying up 15 mil down the road in a $100 million cap league will hurt.

Only fools look for logic in the ways of bret.

Obviously there were bad deals this FA period. Elcano and Guerrero stick out because of just how bad they are, when you see someone like TM stockpile reasonably priced ML players for less spent than what moy or patrickm spent on one player.

I'm actually surprised moy of all people panicked into that move. Not that I think he's smarter than it, but usually he keeps all that spending money around for his usually transfer to prospect budget to get a top international. He basically removed himself from that game. Which is a shame, because I thought if we were allowed to freely set budgets instead of by small increments, I might have invested in the IFA pool myself. So many teams dedicated money to pursue the top tier of free agents that not many teams are using the IFA pool this year. Vancouver will probably do well for itself. I assume dherz as well. And babypop usually gets a couple good to great guys for Kansas City.

I got 20 million to jump back in it.

I only did the one division so far, though...

I think the biggest draw of this league is it tends to be the smartest league that I'm in, as far as transactions. I don't often see awful contracts or negligible moves.  $ hasn't had a true rape in a while. By this point most the owners are very shrewd and savvy, or just too wary of being the victim in a deal.

The international market is going to be really critical for my teams success for the next few seasons.

I think the fact that shtickless also acts as an interactive blog for world $, makes most of the owners much more in tune to how to operate a franchise, as well as who values what types of players.
Yeah.  I hadn't really thought about that.

Granted, Im paying $14 mil for Daniels that last season. He surely wont be worth it at that point--but I'll be into rebuild mode by then.

Does Lidge know he's allowed to get the leadoff guy out?

should have the flurry of signings in KP hit momentarily.
No one on my FAT list so no one good.

Quinn got paid.

Iorg got more than he would have in an older world given his age and health.

I was behind on this guy until yesterday evening and only had a $5mil increase between my offers with $3mil of that coming in the 1st season so yeah even when I was offering between $52-60mil I was still trailing so I suppose I could've just backed off completely and rolled that money plus the money I was using to try and get Quinn in Propspects, that's just not how I play the game....besides, as cheez put it, it's me why would I want to disappoint my fans.

So now I switch my attention to the trade market, if there is one.
I am saturated with 2B/CF types that I need to trade...  along with a solid pitching prospect.

got O.T. but missed out on the other guy.  I had him max salary with a $5mil bonus and lost out becuase I couldn't offer $10mil
Bad, bad contract you gave Overtime McClain.
I traded that fool for something nice last season.

Wretched contract.

To go back with what b0t said about the IFA market, things could not have gone better for DET.  Shouldn't fall off at all, 6 1st round picks and 20 million to spend on an IFA market with way less players than normal.  I just hope I see someone worth it.

Having things go well in $ feels better than any other world.

I was willing to overpay for Iorg for a bit, but the idea of being stuck with his carcass, in a 4th or 5th year was unacceptable.
