Well, it would be Coach........... IF you could count on folks to be marginally intelligent with their money. Unfortunately, in reality, the Gov't will do a much better job of gaining a legitimate positive return than the majority of "individuals" would do if free'd up to "invest their own money".

That's been my observations of "folks" out there anyway.
Yes, but I'm a firm believer that it is not the governments job to protect people from themselves.

Time to vent about something actually important.

I have a VERY comfortable chair in my bedroom, but I never get to sit in it because my wife apparently thinks it's designed to hold piles of clean clothes. Should I divorce her over this?

You should re-commit to your vows and remarry her. This insures you'll never have to do your laundry as long as she is alive.

Flowers and chocolate at the very least.

Buy her a chair to set the clothes on. Something flowery, paisley. Convince her the clothes deserve a prettier chair. Or convince her that you both join a nudist club, eliminating the pile of clothes, and unnecessary laundry. It will free up more time for pagan limbo dancing...she may end up divorcing you, eliminating the pile of clothes on your chair. Trial and error, old boy.

Again, both Parties s*ck and share about equally in the problems of this Country. The deficit was a problem under BOB just as it is now. Repubs want to cut taxes on the wealthy and Dems want to keep giving everything away. (There's even one who posts here who says we should NOT cut any Government programs at all.) It's a lose-lose option that is created by the stranglehold these Parties have on our Government. While some elected officials MAY care about their constituents, they are powerless to do what is best for them because they truly need the support and financing their Party supplies to stay in office.
I could NOT have stated this any better, Sir. Except that it goes way back before Obama.

And I certainly ain't no Republican lately. Not even close!
BUT, I do agree that entitlements need addressed.
And can be, easily.
TWO words. MEANS TESTING!

IMO.
A floor/ceiling should be established as to an individual's TOTAL ECONOMIC SITUATION at the time of retirement.
By that I mean one's age, health, living conditions/regional expense ratio, and YES, total bottom line amount of WEALTH.

IF (I SAY IF) you exceed the wealth ceiling, your SSA "retirement" benefits are limited to what you actually paid in over your "work-life" plus some small "fair" cost of living increase (1 - 2%).
Those specific individuals wouldn't get "screwed" as they'd still get back what they paid in + a little bit, BUT they wouldn't get this massive increase in benefits as compared to what they actually paid in, which is the situation for almost ALL retirees, today.

In other words, two separate "classes" of SSA beneficiaries.
The exceedingly "rich", and everyone else.

The SSA "deficit" would disappear immediately IMO.
This is radical, but how about we let people keep their money and gain much larger returns investing privately instead of letting our screwed up government do the investing for us. Just a thought, but as with all my thoughts it's a damn good one.
If you could trust companies/corporations/investment banks/bankers to actually work towards the benefit of the investor....I might agree. Unfortunately that's not the case. This admin even rolled back protections that said investment companies had to work to the benefit of the client.

Divorce is a sin and a great threat to the sacred union of marriage.

Daggone dude......... have you morphed into nutout??
It is a sin, according to the Bible, so is.........the list would be too long--------- in most biblethumpers eyes.............

EVERYTHING any fun is a threat to your "faith" and walk with God, according to the denomination in which I was raised. (Same one as Elvis P. by the way!)
Thus, the evangelicals paranoia about all things "different" to the monogamous view of "marriage" and "coupling".
I shouldn't pick on the evangelicals, should I? That paranoia of the "differing lifestyles" of others is present in damn near EVERY denomination, isn't it Reverand Ike?
Ever present as well is their condemnation of those that offend their OWN views on "faith", even though their very own model (according to their OWN Bible) is that Thou shalt NOT Judge.
So much for the faithful adhering to their principles when it gets a little dicey!

They created a place called THE PIT for people with foul mouths and weak minds. It's still there. I know because I killed it.

Now some of you people are going to have to either clean up and follow the rules or go back to the PIT.

It's not a freedom of speech issue. You have it. Go there. Enjoy.

Stay here and be welcome for as long as you respect the freedoms of everybody. Use your pea brain.

Figure out which thread a nude works in and where a four letter word might not.

You have freedom of choice. Use the PIT when you think you need to.

Have a spirited debate here anytime you want. R-E-S-P-E-C-T. I know what it means to me.

Have a nice day.
10/19/2018 5:40 PM
They made the PIT just for you.

Goodbye.

Just another Liberal (like HRC, dino, et al) who thinks they are above the rules.
