Survivor 4 Winner crowned Topic

Alright what is the next step?

Okay I see that dub stepped out too. Tomjames gets one vote to be the winner of this survivor. Everyone has one question they may ask to each survivor. This will be done till Thursday night. Votes are due Friday night, with the winner revealed on Saturday. Questions will be asked in the forum.

To the two remaining Survivors: A large part of both of you getting to this point is repeated dropouts and apathy among some players. Not saying either of you wouldn't have made it without that, but the game deteriorated into a contest of who was willing to play more than of research and winning. Was it a matter of beating a good idea about the head until it was almost lifeless, or was there another reason interest died out? Why do you deserve the vote to win?

Tomjames - How many alliances did you have? Did you back stab anyone?

Donald - How many alliances did you have? Did you back stab anyone?

Will, for a great deal of the game, my only alliance was with you, Dub, and Soxy, as far as I know. Did I backstab anyone? No way.

Tomjames - as a new player who's record in this season wasnt stellar why do you feel u should win?

don - DO you feel that a great record alone is enough to win this game?

DJT - I tried sitemailing you about votes at least a few times and you never responded.  Obviously there was an alliance late that I was not a part of.  As a longtime LIVE player against whom I have played in many, many leagues, how do you justify keeping tomjames around instead of me?

tomjames - Do you think it was to your advantage that you don't have a long history in the LIVE community?  Do you think it's possible that you survived to the end solely because everyone thought you'd be a safe guy to go up against for votes since nobody really knows you very well?  That really, it was a lack of respect or fear of what you might be able to do late in the game that let you sneak through?

@Soxy, the game started with 15 players and lasted 12 rounds, so I think a great record while not the only factor is a significant factor -- for the sake of consistency -- which would fall under the "outlast" portion of the real Survivor's slogan. My record was 23-11 which means I won more than 2/3 of the games I played. I believe it is difficult to maintain that for a very long time.

@Dahs, I remember only once (when it was down to 6) that you sitemailed me. I did not want to answer you that you were next to go because it might have foiled the plans of the alliance. I asked members of my alliance why you should go instead of Tom and the answer I got from Dub was that you were a bigger threat due to your superior record over Tom. I also didn't want to tell you that you were not the next to go because that would've meant I was lying. So I figured silence was the best way to go.

@ Josh, sorry I didn't see your question earlier. I can't speak for anyone else as to why interest died out. I hope it didn't die out totally as I want to play Season 5 and host Season 6. Perhaps some people had other obligations that were mutually exclusive to anything on this site. I found it strange that Dub didn't play the final round or even pick a team, given that he was playing Live games every day in the past few days.

I deserve to win because I did research for every round, including lineup, starting pitching, bench, bullpen, and real-life overall winning record. I am sure Tom managed well, and I am not taking anything away from him, but I believe overall I managed better. He even admitted to me he shouldn't have taken the 1987 Twins in the final 5 due to their sorry pen. Obviously, some choices were easier than others. My overall season record was 23-11 and I played the game right. I didn't lie and I didn't backstab anyone (not saying Tom did either), not that there was anyone left to backstab as interest waned. Of course, some of it is luck, good and bad for all of us. We all lost games we shouldn't have but I think my record of upsets and comeback wins, including two by the 2005 Astros over the 2004 Red Sox in a sweep, and the 7-6 comeback win by the 1998 Yankees also over the 2004 Red Sox, with a combination of long-ball and small-ball (bottom 9th had 2 solo HRs and then a walk, a pinch-run SB, and a walkoff hit) shows my versatility as manager from start to finish.

@ Josh.  Before playing survivor I had never played sim live or really had any interest in playing it.  After joining a HBD league with the likes of bastanredsox, soxyanks and willsauve they talked me into joining.  I have no clue why it died out or why people stop playing as this was all new to me.  I tried finding the best teams I thought would give me the best chance of winning but I made mistakes along the way.  Trying to to figure out the game was tough at the beginning but I believed I started getting the hang of it by the end.  I wish more people had played and got involved like I read in the previous survivors but for some reason it was not to be in this game.  Hopefully there will be another one and be better then this one, not that I'm saying it was not fun, but seeing people quit and or not playing got annoying by the end.
Do I deserve to win, well that is a tough question.  My record would say no but when it came to the big game I did win so that has to go in my favor.  I did last and survive, so is not the point of survivor.

@ willsauve.
My only alliance was with you and who ever you had an alliance with.  I do not believe I stabbed anyone in the back and if I did, well to bad so sad.
5/24/2011 10:40 PM
@ Soxyanks 12.

Yes I was a new player, so I believe it was an advantage for me.  Up until the last series, I believe I did not deserve to win but I can up big when it counted.  The last series told me that I should win this thing.  The whole point of survivor is to survive, as it does not matter how you got there.  I lasted to the end, won the big game when it counted, so I believe I should recieve your vote.

@Dahs

Being new was a great advantage, as I got to play under the radar for most of the game.  I got to learn the game and improve every week and survive to the end.  I got to watch as everyone took out each other and marched into the final two.  I tried to remain natural and respectful of the other players, as I knew I was a new player and no point in causing attention to myself.   As the reason for me making it to the end, I will say it was a lack of respect and with me being new an easy target.  At the end, I shocked the world and won the last series.  Will that get me some votes, who knows but I believe the next time people will see me more a challenge then this game.
