I dont think Phaneuf was intended to be traded until he banged Conroy's wife and got punched out by Iggy... the subsequent 9 game losing streak, probably also had something to do with him moving..

To me, that's the only reason you sign Boumeister...IF you have a line on a deal for forward etc..Otherwise it's just brings you closer to the cap without a real benefit to the team

I think Sutter honesly signed J-Bo to shore up the defence... last year, our goals against sucked and Sutter said he wanted to address that issue.. but, balance is key and Sutter failed.

I want Iggy, J-Bo, White, Kipper, Gio, McGrattan, Mayers and Nystrom back next year... everybody else can retire/die for all I care

Well, if they were going to trade Backlund be pretty dumb but if they were hope the Leafs get on the deal. This kid probably be putting up 50 points a season if was playing full time on at least 1 or 2nd line. He is not scorer more of play maker so would need a goal scorer on line. So that would be Iginla but since he was not giving much time this year what do you expect. He put up 10 points in 22 games. He put up 32 points in 54 games at Abbotsford (AHL). The kid better start in the NHL next year or he is wasting away. He is ready now so hopefully either flames play him or trade him to a team that would let him play full-time.

You, can bad mouth leaf fans but in the end the kids ready. Mediocre numbers not really considering what the Heat had for offense. Their top scorer of the season had only 54 pts in 72 games which was Jason Jaffrey and Backlund only played 54 games(32 pts). So would not say mediocre its more like nick is mad cause the Flames failed to get in post-season so feels that nobody is worth much except probably Iginla and Kipper.

I said around 50 points and was being fair if Backlund did play around 1st or 2nd line. Yeah, that's more exciting since you had no legitimate center for Iginla and tried Langkow for how many years lol. Seriously Backlund will be good and wish Sutter and gang were as bright as you since he be gone and then flourish with the leafs lol.
