so, what does work? Our version of democracy that elected a self-serving, sexist, con man as president?
Capitalism works. Despite your subjective statements the GDP is strong, unemployment is low and overall people are happy. If you want to debate then tell me how you would improve this country. I don't care about your personal views of the President's moral compass. They are irrelevant in this discussion. Period.
Many would say unemployment was low and overall people were happy when Obama was president, yet according to some he was the worst president in history.
That is because of three issues IMO:

#1) Debt went up tremendously

#2) Military power perception declined significantly -- see the Middle East, Russia and N. Korea not being scared of the US.

#3) Race relations really suffered. See Ferguson. See Baltimore.

Rightly or wrongly he is held responsible.

He literally said he's only cutting taxes on the lower and middle class. Not the top brackets.

So now you believe every word Trump says? Trump literally said there were fine people in Charlottesville too.

taxes are so complex it would be impossible to not end up cutting taxes for the wealthy. For instance, simply eliminating the death tax would help the wealthy... Trump still wants to do that.

If people overall were happy, Trump wouldn't be in office. Instead of a great UNITER we got a great DIVIDER. Be it race, income, police, politics, you name it.

I KNOW Obama was the worst president ever because America actually elected a sexist, bigoted, racist, homophobic, xenophobic, ******* who bankrupted businesses on his way to squander all of daddy's money.
I doubt that's true. Trump was elected because he was running against Hillary Clinton, who is just as unlikeable as Trump(if not more unlikeable). If Obama had been allowed to run again, I doubt Trump would have beaten him. We'll never know for sure.

I'm talking income tax.

He specifically said he would not cut taxes on the upper brackets.

How is Hillary running on Obama's platform worse than a a sexist, bigoted, racist, homophobic, xenophobic, ******* who bankrupted businesses on his way to squander all of daddy's money? I mean, was she Satan? What can be worse than a a sexist, bigoted, racist, homophobic, xenophobic, ******* who bankrupted businesses on his way to squander all of daddy's money.

I keep hearing she was a bad candidate... Maybe... But worse than a a sexist, bigoted, racist, homophobic, xenophobic, ******* who bankrupted businesses on his way to squander all of daddy's money.

What did Hillary do that's worse than talking about putting a hand up a skirt, or calling Mexicans rapists, or mocking war heroes, or insulting Muslim gold star parents?

The answer, Hillary didn't do anything worse than that... She just ran on Obama's platform and lost because America was sick of it.

When I see a plan we can discuss. Still will help them though because of the marginal tax brackets below the top bracket. I.e. if he lowers the first $50k to 10% then the high earners also pay the first $50k at 10%. Like I said... Any way you slice it the wealthy will get a tax break. It's impossible for them not to because the top 10% of earners (households over $100k/year) pay for some 60-70% of the tax burden.
9/13/2017 6:20 PM
Well, sure, but no one will have a problem with him significantly lowering the rates on income under 91k/153k (single/married) and leaving brackets above 91k/153k alone.

Maybe cut the 25% to 15%, the 15% to 5%, and zero out the bottom.

Well, no one except Paul Ryan, who jerks off to the fantasy of increasing the rates on the lower brackets to pay for a huge upper bracket cut.

Maybe, maybe not. Maybe Hillary is just an extremely unlikeable candidate. I don't love Obama, but I'd be happier voting for just about anyone running on his platform other than Hillary. You keep calling trump a " sexist, bigoted, racist, homophobic, xenophobic, ******* who bankrupted businesses on his way to squander all of daddy's money." but I don't think you really believe that. You love the guy.

The wealthy don't need a tax cut on personal income. Many of the loopholes need to be eliminated. The wealthy will be fine. They will benefit from a restructuring of the corporate tax rate. Get them to actually pay their fair share. That will be enough. They don't need to be gutted like a fish.

Trump is going to get the middle class moving upward. Their tax rates will be reduced noticeably. The poor will pay little or nothing.

Business owners will continue the recent trend of increased investment. More jobs. Hopefully a good percentage will be better paying.

Oh by the way, a majority of Americans now approve of Trump's handling of the economy, according to Gallup.

I like that Trump is attempting to work with Democrats. The Republicans have spun their wheels. Embarrassing. I hope Trump makes them sweat. They need to move their collective ***, and get something done. Make deals. Heal the decisiveness. Give people a reason to believe that we can move forward, stop the infighting. Enough grandstanding, on both sides.

Agree. I was trying to think of the last deal Obama made with the republicans. I still can't think of one.

I don't think he's any of those things, based on his actions. But almost every liberal media outlet has portrayed him as so, same with every liberal in this forum.

The crime bill was one of only a few that was bipartisan. Working across the aisle is long overdue. My hope is that Trump can show a willingness to rise above partisan politics whenever possible. He works for us, not the idiots on Capitol Hill.

Surveillance reform was another. Obama did bend on some items, but not enough to suit most Republicans. He was able to pick up votes on the right at times to get bills passed. I just cannot see picking up 2 or 3 house Republican votes as truly working across the aisle effectively. It probably seems better if you were on the other side of the aisle...

"More and more we're trying to work things out together, and it's a positive thing and it's good for the Republicans and good for the Democrats," Trump said.

^^Master negotiator in chief. He will break these guys down and eventually get Washington working like it should again.
