1980's Progressive Eliminator Draft Topic

Ok, so we pretty much have our rosters set. Six of us wont be around after the first two seasons. Anyone worried? Did you guys load up on early seasons or try to survive while loading up on late seasons?

I figured that since the standings accumulate each year the safest way to go is to load up early and build up enough of a cushion that I could have a poor season and still be in the top 12.

I thought about drafting just enouh talent to be better than 6 teams over the first two seasons but I was worried that I might be in too much of a hole to recover. Perhaps someone who has been in an eliminator league before can shed some light, strategy wise.

All in all, Im not confident that my team will win it all, Im marginally confident of making top 12 after 4 seasons. Going the distance will be enough of a victory......Maybe.

Im interested to hear some other strategies.

Well Im defenitly worried about getting through this year especially when your reling on a 7 man platoon OF and a makeshift sarting rotation but the upside is if I do make it through  that I should be ok the rest of the way as  I drafted I leaned towards 85 87

"Im interested to hear some other strategies"

I defined my primary goal as having a real shot in season 5 of winning the WS. I also decided that I'd rather bust out early than limp into season 5 on the strength of early seasons only to be out of gas there.

My first 10-12 rounds definitely focused on picks that had lasting value into seasons 4 and 5. After that, I tried mainly to fill in around that core with picks who would (hopefully) keep me at or near 500 for the first 3 seasons. If I make it into season 4, I'm hopeful of contending then through season 5. I also tried to project about where I would pick in the upcoming rookie drafts and what help I would find there. I had no idea about how to project what would be available in the contraction drafts.

Bottom line: I've just got to make it into season 4.

And I've never been in an eliminator before so I'll probably end up learning a lot on the right strategies for these things.
