Montreal Spectres Fan Club 1990- Topic

Game 62: Montreal hits four home runs, three of them in Earl Weaver approved three-run fashion, to crush the Melons 14-2 to open the series. Tomo Ohka gets the win and improves to 8-3.

Game 63: Montreal hits four more homers and five doubles to score another easy victory over the Melons, 12-4. Chuck Finley goes eight for the win, improving to 4-3.

Game 64: Montreal finishes a sweep of Pittsburgh with three more home runs, giving them 11 in the series, keying a 6-4 decision. Felix Rodriguez allows three Melon runs in the ninth but Eddie Guardado ends it there for his 14th save.

We now play two games against AL East leading Boston (39-25).

Game 65: A late offensive explosion by the Brawn is matched by the Spectres, who get a grand slam from Bret Boone and a big two-run double by Carlos Delgado.. Montreal wins at Fenway, 9-7.

Game 66: The Spectres effectively cluster their hits and get there scoreless innings from the bullpen to finish off the Brawn, 6-4. Joe Kennedy gets the win.

We're off to Cincinnati to face the Stingers.

Game 67: Bret Boone hits two solo home runs and the Spectres also get longballs from Melvin Mora and Mark Bellhorn as they beat the Stingers 8-5. Tomo Ohka pitches six nice innings to get the win, improving to 9-3. Eddie Guardado pitches the ninth for his 17th save.

Game 68: Cincinnati ends Montreal's seven-game winning streak, beating the Spectres 4-1 behind Josh Fogg, who was 2-9 entering the game. Fogg pitches a complete game.

Game 69: Carlos Delgado hits four home runs and the Spectres score in every inning but the second as they blow out the Stingers, 20-1, in the series finale. Delgado drives in seven and Melvin Mora drives in five.

The Spectres head back home to meet San Diego.

Game 70: Ruben Sierra hits a tie-breaking two-run triple in the seventh and the Spectres hold on for a 4-2 win over the Conquistadors.

Game 71: Carlos Delgado and Ken Griffey Jr. hit two home runs each but it's Griffey's RBI single in the 11th that gives Montreal a 10-9 victory. Delgado drives in six runs.

Game 72: The series finale is a pitchers' duel and the Spectres come out on top again, 3-2, hitting three solo homers to account for all their scoring. Mark Bellhorn's 8th-inning blast snaps a 2-2 tie and Eddie Guardado pitches the ninth to get the save. Ken Griffey Jr. homers again, his third in two days.

The Spectres take their act on the road to St. Louis.

Game 73: With two out in the ninth and a 3-0 lead, Eddie Guardado falls apart. He allows an RBI double, then walks Richie Sexson to bring Ellis Burks to the plate. Burks homers, St. Louis wins 4-3. It's Guardado's second blown save.

Game 74: Omar Daal pitches seven 2-hit innings and Ken Griffey Jr. hits his sixth home run as the Spectres even the series with a 5-1 win.

Game 75: Richie Sexson's bases-loaded double caps a 5-run sixth and the Spectres drop the series to St. Louis, losing the finale by a 5-3 score.

Montreal returns home to face hated Frisco, who has dropped below .500 for the season.

Game 76: The Niners come to town angry; Rafael Palmeiro drives in six runs and AJ Pierzynski has four hits as the Spectres go through seven pitchers in a 15-2 shelling.

Game 77: Montreal evens the score, scoring five in the first and rolling to a 15-3 win behind Tomo Ohka, who gets his 10th win of the season. Mark Bellhorn is 4-4 with four runs scored; Ramon Hernandez homers and drives in four.

Game 78: CC Sabathia strikes out 12 batters over seven innings and the Niners score two off Mike Remlinger in the eighth to take the series finale, 2-1.

The Spectres head to Wrigley to face the Bootleggers in their final series before the All Star Break.

Montreal puts two pitchers on the 2002 NL All Star Team: Tomo Ohka and Eddie Guardado.

Game 82: Ramon Hernandez hits a two-run home run and the Spectre bullpen throws four scoreless innings as Montreal beats Houtson 4-3 to start the second half of the season.

Game 83: Chuck Finley throws eight scoreless innings and Eddie Guardado finishes off the shutout.. at an opportune time, too, because the Spectres manage only one run.

Game 84: The Spectres take a 7-0 lead after two innings and hold on for a 9-7 win to sweep Houston. Carl Crawford hits for the cycle and scores three runs.

Interleague sets with Oakland, the Brawnx, and Orange County are next.

Game 85: Geoff Jenkins drives in four runs and the Spectres beat Oakland 9-6 despite some shaky work by the bullpen.

Game 86: Montreal gets good pitching from starter Joe Kennedy but horrible pitching from the bullpen and drops a 7-1 decision in Oakland.

Game 87: Melvin Mora snaps a 1-1 tie with a pinch-hit, three run home run in the seventh and the Spectres go on to a 6-2 win over the Bombers.

Game 88: A tight pitching duel becomes a slugfest over the final three innings and the Spectres come out on top, 8-5, getting homers from Geoff Jenkins and Mark Bellhorn late.

Game 89: Bret Boone and Ruben Sierra have four hits each, with Sierra hitting two home runs and driving in five, as the Spectres win at Orange County 9-4.

Game 90: Dave Burba pitches seven 3-hit innings and Edgardo Alfonzo drives in two runs as the Spectres sneak past OC 3-1 at home.

The Spectres head out ot Milwaukee to face the Central-leading Krauts (58-32).

Game 91: Montreal commits three errors and are baffled by Jamie Moyer, who gets his 12th win of the season in a 7-2 win over the Spectres.

Game 92: Montreal chokes up a 4-2 lead in the eighth and eventually loses in 11, 5-4, as Eric Chavez doubles home Luis Castillo with the clincher.

Game 93: Chuck Finley throws eight shutout innings and the Spectres get home runs from Edgardo Alfonzo and Geoff Jenkins as they salvage the finale in Milwaukee, 5-0.

Montreal heads to San Diego next.

Game 94: Omar Daal hits his second home run of the year, a three-run shot, and pitches six innings for his 10th victory as the Spectres arrive in San Diego with an 11-4 win.

Game 95: San Diego's Ben Grieve hits a fifth-inning home run that threatens to decide the game until Edgardo Alfonzo puts Montreal on the board with a three-run shot in the ninth; Eddie Guardado is perfect in the bottom half and Montreal wins 3-1.

Game 96: Michael Cuddyer homers for Montreal but also commits an error that leads to a six-run inning for the Conquistadors, who salvage the finale by a 9-3 score.

The Spectres head home to face Cincinnati.

Game 97: Michael Cuddyer homers for the second straight game and Tomo Ohka is brilliant into the eighth as the Spectres beat the Stingers 2-1. Ohka improves to 12-3.

Game 98: Geoff Jenkins hits a two-run triple and the Spectres lead Chuck Finley to his seventh win, 6-3 over Cincinnati.

Game 99: The Stingers score six runs off Omar Daal (four unearned) and rough up the Spectre bullpen for good measure, running away with an 11-3 victory to prevent a sweep.

The Spectres head west to face Los Angeles.

Game 100: Brett Boone and Edgardo Alfonzo drive in three runs each as the Spectres score a surprising 11-4 win in Los Angeles. Peter Munro and Jose Rijo throw two scoreless innings each in relief of winner Dave Burba.

Game 101: The Spectres hit three home runs in the eighth and ninth innings to tie the game, but lose in extras when Craig Wilson homers off Kelvim Escobar. Final score is 5-4 in ten.

Game 102: Geoff Jenkins homers, doubles, and drives in five as the Spectres take the series with a 9-2 win behind Tomo Ohka, who allows two unearned runs in five innings of work.

The Spectres host St. Louis next.
