I used to also, I think the ability to field the SS position at a mediocre level, and also hit at a mediocre level cause players to get very high overall ratings relative to what they actually do.  Basically the SS isnt a black hole in the lineup or on the field, but Jose Reyes he isnt.

Yeah, the contract kind of sucks.  If I get decent type-A for him in a few seasons, it'll be worth it.

The SS is good.  But not really under paid the next 2 years.

I am not saying bret shouldn't have been looking to trade the guy, but to get back two meh players and have to pay $5M is rape.

He got raped, He got rid of a contract but got raped in the process.

The real argument from that line of thinking is that I had no SS, a team that could otherwise be a contender, and no other decent SS to be had since Fregoe took his boy off the market...

Yeah, maybe Bret could have shopped him and gotten more, but he did just fine.  1 of those pitchers was worth something.

Is it a good or bad thing to be Jose Reyes? He kinda sucks in a franchise crippling way.

Yeah, I thought bret needed that second player to make it more fair. The SS is just a higher overall rating and pretty good defense. The bat isn't that special. Bret got some pitchers with some value in return and a little cap relief in future years so he can maybe dedicate more towards the rebuild.

now I have to go look again.  I though 1 of them would be a quality major leaguer - well worth it for at least the first 4 years of his career.

please give me the names of the pitchers bret is getting as I have already approved the deal.
