Like I said the Toronto trade made sense from a 'team' prespective and the 'locker room' prespective as well. That's one deal...what about some the others.....Were Prust and Jokin' a problem?

Being better on paper doesn't mean crap. It's being better on the ICE that counts. Again another Sutter Excuse...tired of them..

Only when foolish enough to drop the gloves with Rypien

..and you guys have a stud defenceman? please inform me?

J-Bo ..giving Luongo a run for the most overated

R.Regher..2nd coming of Dana Murzyn with his foot speed

White.. he was great in the "smurfs Christmas"

rest = no name fillers

I think both J-Bo and Regher are over rated!!! Both are good.. no doubt BUT are they among the elite D-men of the league?? 'Might' have been at one time... not anymore.

I still would love to hear Sutter's logic behind his trade with Rangers!! Any guesses?

I mean the Flames got basically a contract (2 yr @ 3 mill) and gave up a enforcer.... I don't see where Sutter felt his team was better. Higgins for Jokin' straight over OK both are UFA at the end of the season...so neither team is stuck with a contract but getting Kotalik too??? Rangers must be laughing their a$$es off... they found a sucker to take lame duck contract!

If Jokin' was such a problem put in the press box and let Backlund play (he couldn't do any worse) and Jokin' is gone at the end of the season. But to pick up a contract when you've got cap issues????? For this trade alone... Sutter s/b gone.

If J-Bo can bounce back, he could be... he was good defensivley.. but, not worth 6.6 mil...

Regehr, yeah.. his best days are way behind him

Giordano was our top d man this year by a landslide. White was pretty good after the trade.

I think Giordano and White are pretty good building blocks for future on D. The problem is, White is RFA and will cost to keep him and with Sutter f'in up leaving the team little cap space.... Means in order to keep him and have enough players on the roster, the Flames will have to trade contract.... most likely a forward but if they could swing a trade for Regher (and of course not take a contract back).

Actually, you might be able to find somebody willing to pick up Regher without forcing the Flames to take a contract. They will not get anything of value in return but... that's what's called a Salary Dump.

You know that might not be a totally bad idea really, time to go with a youth movement I think. If you're going to rebuild, no half measures...

Get value from the players you can get value from and build a new strong core. See Chicago Blackhawks for reference. Giving up on your ability to draft is a death sentence, especially in a cap enforced league. If a primary problem is Calgary's scouting, fire them and get someone who can recognize talent. See Detroit Red Wings for reference. The "Calgary fans just want to see winner" attitude will not apply to this team. It will only cause stupid reactionary decisions by management on overpriced, sub-par talent that will only serve to maintain the present level of mediocrity. I want to see a winner in Calgary just as much as you do, but I also want to see it done right.

the problem with looking at the red wings holer is that it may be a salary cap era, but there is no salary cap on scouts. the wings just throw millions and millions into their scouts (both quality and quantity), and calgary (and most other teams) can't afford to do that. though i agree that if the scouts aren't getting the job done, you gotta try to find someone who does. :>

Pansies!

Damn rights. Only reason LA won 2 games.
4/26/2010 4:31 PM
Isn't that the reason that they didnt go 79-3? The 3 losses would have been cause of Luigi.

Agreed
