St Louis Cardinals WORLD CHAMPIONS!!!! Topic

Well, I'm oddly at peace with Pujols being gone. Maybe I'll feel different in the morning...

I really don't think that Pujols will be public enemy number 1. I think people that say that simply don't understand St Louis baseball. In a large fanbase there will be a few knuckleheads of course, but the vast majority of Cardinal fans will have nothing but appreciation for what he's done here. If he ever comes back to Busch he will get a huge standing ovation. Thats how we roll.

I'm glad he is out of the Central and the NL for that matter. He will have a better chance for longevity as a dh in his waning years. I think he is the best player in baseball and I buy the Dove for Men soap he endorses (because he endorses it). He's a good guy with a good heart and will give away a lot of his extra money.

I don't begrudge him, and StL may realize the best end of the deal -- in the long run. He gave the StL fans more than they could have begged for for 11 years.

At least he's in the A.L. and cannot come back to bedevil his old team. The Angels were my favorite A.L. team before I moved to western Washington. I may have to switch back to the Angels instead of the Mariners. I saw Albert play his last preseason game in Seattle in 2001 before the season opener. Now I may have to plan a trip to Seattle for his first game there as an Angel.

And, if he has more money to help with projects for Dominicans and Down Syndrome children, I hope he continues to be generous.

I don't know about that restaurant in St. Louis, though...

I don't think he should get the standing O. I think just polite applause and no boos. The Cardinals are better off that he left and not saddled with that contract but when you say you want to retire a Cardinal and they offer you at least 210 million you take or you are a liar not the guy we thought you were for the last 11 years. Oddly I was more angry with him after a day or two.

I think they will retire the jersey but I wish they wouldn't. I also would prefer he go into the hall in different hat than the StL. He quit us and the Cardinals.

Mizzou is playing some excellent basketball.

Looks like we have Furcal for 2 x 7mil. Thats seems reasonable enough.

yeah I like Furcal and I guess we gotta hope for Betran. I guess we'll see but they should be fine.

I'm not hoping for Beltran unless the price and yrs are very reasonable which I doubt they will be.

What about Adam Dunn? He'll bounce back to normal. If the Sox are down on him, we could get them to eat some of the deal to "cut their losses" from their point of view.

You don't want Dunn to play the field.  Let Berkman have first.

It would make the defense a bit messy, but possibly worth it.

Cards agree to a two year contract with Schumaker. stlcardinals.com doesn't say for how much though. I think Skip is a slightly below average player who is fine to have around at the right price. I wouldn't want to pay him more than 3mil/yr. Has hit .290.346.378 for his career, which is pretty reasonable for a 2nd baseman, but has hasn't really sniffed averageness defensively there yet.

Stating the obvious but they need an outfielder with a bat who can play CF. If not as well as Jay who can move to right. I agree they cannot over pay for Beltran but we'll see.

Dunn is done.

Cards nearing deal with Romero, who has an impressive 1.5 career whip. Should be fun watching him walk guys.
