Interesting counterpoints. Johnson has had some
amazing consistency. But I just find it hard to imagine the programmers explicitly deciding that having 3 pitches makes you inconsistent and coding it into the game. It would be difficult enough to convincingly show that it exists in real life (kind of like the hot hand). Maybe it was unknowingly programmed into the game?

I’m gonna stand by my theory. I think that anyone can cherry-pick counterpoints, and I’m trying not to be fooled by randomness, or other confounders that could explain the inconsistencies. Although it would be interesting to look into, but scraping the data from this game is really tedious.

But then why not have all starting pitchers have the same number of pitches? Why have some with 3 some with 4 and some with 5? Why not have Starters all have 4 pitches and bullpen staff all have 2?

I feel like this mimics real life as well. Why are their starters in the big leagues that become relievers? Some of the time its because they only have 2 pitches. So the second or third time a batter faces them, they have already seen all of their stuff and its less effective.
For pitchers in HBD is it the total of all of their pitches added together? So a 3 pitch pitcher that is all in the 70's is a 210 pitch pitcher while a pitcher with 80-50-50-20-20 is a 220 pitcher? I have no idea.

The 3-pitch SP I linked earlier, Walker, had a great mitigating factor: workhorse. He could go deep into games, so what happened a pile of times was that he’d give up 3 runs in the first or second inning but then give me seven zeros in a row. Due to the numbers evening out, he seemingly got better the longer he went. Lot of come from behind wins.

If you ever wondered what a vL and vR of 0 looked like for a position player, here is one to look at.

If you end up with a 20th rounder that wants $7.5M (a "probably won't sign", even though you selected Very Conservative for these rounds), is that a sign that he's worth it?

The short answer is no. Is there a chance that he is, sure? But it is a 7.5 million dollar raffle ticket that I would not pay for unless I had some dead money.

If you have no better use for the $ then why not?

If anyone is bored and wants to use their free team I created a sim basketball league. In theory we'll all be terrible so it will be pretty even. league #64056

How do I find that league?

Testing out the injury bug.....I put a player on the 60 day DL, only minor injury and didn't actually register as an injury. He has been on the DL for 35 days, when does a recovery bump show up in these cases?

The injury bug has been weird as of recently. I have had a few guys with makeup over 80 with 20 million medical that haven't returned back to where they were pre-injury with their recovery.

You might get a bump something like 50 HBD days in. In the past you would have gotten 2 bumps but now I legit have no idea. Strange times.

For those of you playing along at home:

Jerry Lee I can't begin to explain how disappointing this is. With an 85 makeup and tendinitis I thought I had the golden ticket. I'm going to wait for another cycle to see if he even gets his old stats back but I'm doubtful. Why bother with 20 million medical now? I could use that money on free agents.

C.C Lawley A throw away. Again, I don't care if he gets bumps or not but again, past the point of healing. Hasn't reached his before injury numbers. Makeup of 82.

Dock Norton

Kinda like the stock market. Time to get out before this money is worthless.

If I find they made it for players not to return to pre injury form with 20 in med and training I am afraid I will quit. Its b.s. honestly.

I've got two weird pitching prospects. Please help me determine whether either of them is anything:
