Your comment reminds me of the opening passage of a WWI history I read many years ago. The technology (artillery, machine gun, etc.) was so far in advance of the tactics (human leadership) that it was destined to become a carnival of slaughter...and history tends to repeat itself.

Climate change is probably something we can't discuss, which is a shame. Your jewish culture comment really struck me. When it comes to the topic of climate change, we are both like the orthodox jew...true believers, and any true believer takes the subject at hand as an article of faith and can not be convinced otherwise.

the huge majority of top scientists say man made causes are at the center and we are at the end of time to fix it.
Even trump has reluctantly conceded that there is climate change...he says it is natural...and weather.
if an asteroid was coming would you say that isnt a satellite so say your prayers and leave it in god's hands.
we are living in a time of madness.

and therein lies the rub...

All "science" is is a religion, a belief system, a knightly code, an opinion. There are no facts, only theoretical representations of our current state of human ignorance. Do a google search on superseded theories in science. History is replete with huge majorities of top scientists believing in all sorts of things for all sorts of reasons And like most belief systems, when you don't believe what the huge majority believes, you are labeled a heretic and if you're not careful, that huge majority will threaten to torture and kill you for that heresy...just ask Galileo...because the huge majority is never wrong...and its easier to eliminate opposition than to cogently debate a contrary point. So, the case is closed and the verdict is in. Majority rules and minority suppressed, or better yet, destroyed. Baah said the black sheep.

yes.....interpretation of facts can be debated but there is a shift in world wide climate.
the debate is the cause....ok.
whether natural pattern or destruction by erosion why isnt our govt directing a plan to counteract the effects at the very least.
that is a simple question.
no matter what the cause why is - we cant do anything about it - acceptable.
since the beginning of science there were those who branded it sorcery because they saw competition with religion and then there were people who tried to inject their religious beliefs into science.
science that is tested and borne out accumulates and leads to more advanced theories then tested and borne out and so on....there are scientific facts and scientific theories all utilizing principles and the processes of scientific thought.
true science is based on theories that are tested and eventually may be proven or disproved.
faith is based on hope.........when there are facts you have true history and true science.........sometimes the facts that make up history can be debated.
sometimes the facts of scientific research can be debated as not pure but it is a process.
when the testing is stringent and replicated and retested by many independent means you gain reliability.
with climate change there is serious work done by serious reliable people all around the world.
so it is the realm of science and not faith.
faith can be it will be hot and sunny tomorrow........that the earth is currently revolving around the sun is proven fact......not faith.
