Game 103: Bill Krueger throws seven scoreless innings, but for only the second time this season, Rick Aguilera can't hold the lead. Houston scores six in the ninth inning, five charged to Aguilera, for a 6-1 win. Montreal generates no offense after Ken Caminiti's first inning RBI double.
Game 104: The 3-4-5 combo of Griffey Jr., Caminiti, and O'Brien combines for seven hits in 10 at bats, but the Spectres get only two runs out of that and lose 8-2 as Dennis Rasmussen drops back to .500 at 6-6.
Game 105: Ken Griffey Jr. homers to lead off the eighth, and four batters later, Mark Carreon hits a three-run double. Montreal holds on to win 6-4 and salvages a game from this series.
We're off to one of our least favorite ballparks, Wrigley, to suffer a likely sweep at the hands of the Bootleggers.

Game 107: This one is a more familiar result; Chicago hits four home runs and crushes the Spectres 8-1. Alex Fernandez takes a beating. Ken Caminiti drives in the only Montreal run.
Game 108: Ken Griffey Jr. is 5-5 with a double and two homers, but that's not enough to hold off the Bootleggers, who take the series with a 7-6 win in the finale.
We host San Francisco next.

Game 109: Dennis Rasmussen not only throws six brilliant innings (four hits, no walks) but he hits his first home run of the season. He gets plenty of support, too, as Jay Buhner and Tony Phillips go yard in a 9-1 Montreal win.
Game 110: Ken Caminiti regains the team RBI lead with a three-run homer, and Chuck Finley throws eight shutout innings for his sixth win as the Spectres humble Frisco 5-0.
Game 111: The finale is a pitchers' duel. Jay Buhner's two-run homer in the sixth gives Montreal a 2-0 lead, but the Niners tie it with scores in the seventh and eighth. The game goes to extras, scorelessly so for three innings. Frisco's Todd Benzinger finally breaks the tie with a two-run double in the 13th. He later scores and San Fran avoids a sweep with a 5-2 win.
We're off to Cincinnati to face the Stingers.

Game 114: Dennis Rasmussen walks in all three of his plate appearances and picks up his eighth win of the season as Montreal finishes off a sweep of the Stingers with a 4-2 win.
Montreal hosts the Leaguers of San Diego next.
9/8/2007 6:52 AM
Game 115: The opener is a back-and-forth affair. San Diego scores three times in the first off Chuck Finley, but the Spectres tie it by the end of the third. The Leaguers then score single runs in the sixth and seventh but Montreal gets RBI singles from Jay Buhner and Ken Caminiti in the bottom of the seventh to tie the score at five. In the eighth, Mark Carreon singles home Brady Anderson to break the tie, and Rick Aguilera throws a scoreless ninth for his 24th save. Jim Gott gets the win in relief, his 10th of the season.
Game 116: Scott Erickson pitches seven spectacular innings and sparks a two-run third inning with his first double of the season. He later scores and the bullpen holds on for a 2-1 win over the Leaguers.
Game 117: San Diego salvages the finale, getting a three-run homer from Jose Canseco and blasting Jim Gott for three runs in one-third of an inning to beat Montreal 7-3.
We begin the third round of divisional play with a trip to New York to face the Cosmos.
9/9/2007 6:42 AM
Game 118: The Cosmos seem angry.. they collect 12 hits and 10 runs in three innings of work by Bill Krueger on the way to a 15-4 blowout win. Mark Langston throws a complete game for his 18th win.
Game 119: Dennis Rasmussen allows only one hit and one walk over 7.1 innings of work and the Spectres even the series with a 3-1 win over the Cosmos. Tony Phillips hits his 15th home run for Montreal.
Game 120: Despite an embarrassing loss in the opener, Montreal takes the series with close wins in games 2 and 3. The finale is a nail-biter; Carlos Wolf singles home two runs in the top of the ninth to give Montreal a 3-2 lead, and then Rick Aguilera earns his 27th save, retiring two pinch hitters on pop outs to lead off the ninth and striking out Roberto Kelly for the final out.
We travel to Pittsburgh next.

Game 122: Ken Griffey Jr. is 4-4 with a home run, but that's not nearly enough offense to beat the Boilers, who even the series with a 4-2 win.
Game 123: Ken Griffey Jr. homers again, gets some help from Ron Karkovice, who hits his second longball of the season, and Bill Krueger earns his third win, 5-2 over Pittsburgh.

9/11/2007 3:04 PM
Game 124: Randy Velarde leads off the bottom of the ninth with a pinch hit single, and later scores on Ken Griffey Jr.'s game-tying double. Rick Aguilera leaves the bases loaded in the 10th, and neither team threatens in the 11th. Jim Gott pitches the 12th for Montreal. Philly puts men on the corners with one down, but Greg Olson hits into a double play to end the threat. With two down and none on in the bottom half, Montreal strings together two walks and a single to load the bases. Scott Radinsky faces Gagne.. Gagne hits a Texas leaguer that falls in for a game-winning single! Gott earns his 11th win.
Game 125: Chuck Finley allows only one run in seven innings, but Tim Crews chokes up a 3-1 lead in the top of the eighth. Montreal rallies, scoring twice in the bottom half, and Aguilera comes through with his 29th save as the Spectres win 5-3.
Game 126: Travis Fryman reaches the 100-RBI mark with a three-run homer while the Spectres are limited to a two-run homer by Ken Griffey Jr. Scott Erickson falls to 10-9 as the Keystones salvage the finale, 5-2.

Game 128: Jay Buhner's two-run homer is the only scoring Montreal can muster, and Greg Cadaret throws three scoreless innings in relief as the Looters even things up with a 6-2 win.
Game 129: LA gets off to a fast start, scoring four in the first off Dennis Rasmussen, but the Spectres stay within striking distance and then stage a ninth inning rally off a tired Greg Cadaret, who walks three batters and allows one hit without retiring anyone. He walks Ken Griffey Jr. to force in a run before being removed for Alejandro Pena. Ken Caminiti greet Pena with a three-run double to tie the score. Ron Hassey and Jay Buhner later add RBI singles and Rick Aguilera throws a 1-2-3 ninth to preserve a 9-7 win.
We head home to face Atlanta.
9/14/2007 7:19 AM
Game 130: Ken Caminiti hits a two-run triple in the first inning, scores soon after, and drives home another run in the third. While that doesn't seem like much production against an exhausted Bull Run prospect, it's enough for Chuck Finley to pick up his seventh win, 4-3.
Game 131: Ron Hassey and Greg Gagne each drives in two runs to back Scott Erickson, who wins his 11th game with eight strong innings, 6-2.
Game 132: Montreal gets two momentous homers.. Brady Anderson's first and Ron Hassey's second, and Alex Fernandez makes it hold up for a 4-2 win. Fernandez improves to 8-13 while Rick Aguilera notches his 33rd save.

Game 134: The amazing Tom Glavine throws eight shutout innings and improves to 22-3 as the Blue Storm destroys Montreal 11-0. Dennis Rasmussen takes most of the beating.
Game 135: St. Louis pounds Chuck Finley, getting four hits from Joe Carter and five RBI from Brian Harper, in a 10-4 win. Easy sweep for St. Louis

Game 137: Houston puts four runs on the board in the fourth inning and holds on for a 7-3 win behind Bret Saberhagen.
Game 138: Montreal takes an early lead but things fall apart in the seventh as the Lone Stars tie the game at three, with the second run scoring on a botched bases-loaded throw home and a bases-loaded walk. The Spectres leave men at first and second in both the eighth and ninth, and the Lone Stars score off Steve Olin in the ninth to win it.
We host Chicago next.
9/16/2007 7:28 AM
Game 139: Redemption for various Spectres in the opener as they tie the game at two with an eighth inning rally, then win it for Olin in the 10th as Jay Buhner singles home Brady Anderson. The Spectre bullpen throws 4.2 scoreless innings.
Game 140: Pete O'Brien takes a break from his horrid season to drive home the lead run in the eighth inning (following a Ken Griffey Jr. double) and Rick Aguilera makes it stand up as the Spectres win 4-3. Chuck Finley gets his eighth win, improving to 8-13 for the season.
Game 141: Scott Erickson's bid to take over the team lead in victories is foiled by one bad inning. Erickson and Gott combine to allow 6 Bootlegger runs in the eighth; Chicago goes on to win the game 8-6 in the 11th.
The Spectres are off to the West Coast to face San Francisco. The Niners have a two-game advantage on us in the standings at 65-76.
