At $63 mil without a second goalie. What do you do if only 1 goalie is on the roster?
9/12/2009 11:32 PM
You've got three options:

1) draft a scrub (165k salary) goalie as the backup.

2) wait until the equalizer draft and draft a goalie from one of the teams that was not selected.

3) draft a goalie as your key prospect. Must be a retired player, worth under 3mil$. I'll have Admin change his name to a Rangers goaltender prospect. If you do this, you won't get to draft a skater as your key prospect.

hi alkaiser,

count me in for the Calgary Flames

Thanks Commish.
So, for a "key prospect", are you saying that the $165k limit is waived for him only (though still limited to less than $3 mil)?

Kueh,
So you're gonna draft fiery Fleury?

Flames are yours, kuehnhackl!

As for Theo Fleury, he can only be drafted once he appears on the nhlnumbers.com site. Thus far, it seems he's at the Flames camp on a tryout (I haven't heard anything concrete about him signing a contract).

winnerpeg - yep, you can draft one player up to a value of 3mil per team to represent the stats of an upcoming prospect. In keeping with the league rules, the name you change it to must be on the nhlnumbers.com site.

ok so draft any retired goalie for less than $3 million?
9/13/2009 12:27 PM
Yep, and I'll change his name to Stephen Valiquette (has never played 20 games in a season, so is still a rookie by WIS standards).
9/13/2009 12:35 PM
That works

9/13/2009 3:03 PM
ok I am at $65,372,942 (added sean burke) -- I guess I should wait to enter my team until I got to pick that other player from other team -- need a D man bad.

Ok, different question then:

regarding "must be on the nhlnumbers.com site", how about if the team's official website's transactions page mentions the signing/resigning of a player but your site hasn't yet? (I know of at least 1 example for the Predators)?
