I was thinking about relocation when I built the new arena. Had to settle for a new logo. And we've sucked since I changed the logo.

I didnt know you could do logos and such

in your team space... I wanted to join Sleepy and Jay with a hand drawn logo, but Sleepy went with a Sabres knockoff.

Can upload a jpg, but I think it can only be 100x100, and less than 4K? I think. The requirements are there.

Continuing Brain's Newbie Guide to the GHL:

The Draft:

If you go to MANAGE PLAYERS > VIEW THIS SEASON'S PROSPECT LIST, you'll see all of the draft-eligible players.

The best Nebrasks can finish now is 19th, so you're drafting in the 1st round.

The draft is four rounds. Each team picks ONE player.

The first round is run at the conclusion of the regular season. The teams that finished 20th-16th pick their guy.
The 2nd round is run after the quarterfinals (1st round of the playoffs). The teams that finished 15th-11th pick their guy.
The 3rd round runs after the semi finals. The teams that finished 10th-6th pick their guy.
The fourth round runs after the finals. The teams that finished 5th-1st pick their guy.

you list the guys you want 1-5 using the drop down box (hint: it won't let you put the same number twice). IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS, YOU WILL GET A RANDOM PICK WHO IS LIKELY TO SUCK. The inactive/AI teams will get a random pick.

If you're #1 is there when you pick, you get him, if not, it goes down the list until the highest rated guy you want is available. You are guaranteed to get one of the five you list as long as you actually list five. You get him and he signs for two years for $$$ out of your control.

The higher your TRAINING and SCOUTING (see: Finances) the more you'll be able to see about the players, taking some of the guesswork out of it. Even with the highest training and scouting, you can only see 6 of the 12 skills.

Not for nothing, Seattle took the highest rated goalie, and hit the jackpot last year.

FINANCES:

Have to make money to spend money.

Upgrading your stadium, marketing, training and scouting, game staff, and travel costs money. Paying your players costs money.

You MAKE money on home games (ticket sales + souvenir sales + food and beverage sales - player salaries and facilites). You LOSE money on road games (player salaries + travel expenses).

Set your ticket, souvenir, t-shirt, jersey, food and beverage prices on the finance page BEFORE your 1st home game. Set the prices, then check with your advisors to see if you're too high or too low. Adjust accordingly until all your advisors have to say is "your ticket prices are good."

As a guide here's where I'm at (remember, I've been at this for three seasons, been to the semi-finals twice and have a networth over $102M):

Name Sell Price
TicketCost for entry. $119
Playoff TicketCost for entry during the playoffs. $185
ShirtA high quality official team shirt. $29
JerseyA high quality official team jersey. $117
SouvenirLow quality official team bobble head. $23
BeverageWatered down hockey soda pop. $7
FoodA good ole' hockey hot dog. $10.50

teh link to teh forum post we were talking about in teh old thread. Problem is, we aren't in a 'tier' we're in a private league, so we don't know for sure if it applies to us.

we have an answer.

kick his ***, hurt his three best players, and voila! Rivalry. That's how we did it (SSS vs. NHN & STL vs. PIT). Oh, and a playoff series that goes three doesn't hurt
Rivalries being born is my favorite part of our league so far. Speedy is my fiercest rival after our epic semifinal last year.

what's the answer?

I'm letting my two 36 year-olds walk at season's end. Just getting rid of them will make my team's average overall player value go up. After that, my team's average age will be less than 24 y/o. If I can keep them together, we're about to go on a run!
12/18/2009 2:30 PM
As long as you can beat that Nebrasks team.
