By the way, who I really WANT to be able to draft is _____________, one of my favorite players ever, but it's sim reality (and not influence from any relation of yours) that discourages me.

This actually is one instance where sim ratings get it right. I attended a basketball camp in the mid-80s where ________ was the guest star and basically couldn't stop the kid he invited to go one on one with him.

um, Brad, you didn't just name an undrafted player, did you?
4/29/2010 4:59 PM
Absolutely not. (Although if I had it wouldn't be one who was in much danger of being drafted anytime soon.)
4/29/2010 5:11 PM
LOL. good man.

We must be about the same age, as I attended Magic Johnson's basketball camp in the mid-80s (where he had three other NBA players as guests, who I won't name because they haven't been drafted yet, though it's not likely they will be either, and one of whom mesmerized all of us with his beautiful long-range shooting stroke)

Seriously, was _______ ever really an NBA player?

Could be, hombre. I'm 41, and went to several hoops camps growing up that were frequented by Denver Nuggets players. None of those celestial individuals have been drafted yet, which tells you something about the Nuggets' place in the upper echelon of basketball. (And it's possible and even probable that none of them will be drafted.)

Maybe not my own, but definitely can tell the difference when it comes to your mom and sister. And Mrs. 98 DEFINITELY knows what's up. Gave her the Bad Santa treatment just last week. She's the best - even made me chicken and dumplings afterwards - helluva lady ya got, soldier.

Damn, I laugh at the worst things. I'm appalled at myself.

banditone - LeBron James, Walt Bellamy, Michael Ray Richardson, Dale Ellis, Larry Nance

I like both of these picks, in theory. I think you're going to be hurting on the boards, despite having guys at each position that can rebound a little. You don't really have "the guy" that cleans the boards, and the only one that comes close is Bellamy. Offensively, I like the James-Ellis-Nance nucleus. Bellamy and Richardson throw things off for me, though. I see this team winning some games but being very inconsistent without some help in the 6th round.

tricky24 - Moses Malone, Kevin Willis, Reggie Miller, Grant Hill, Sleepy Floyd

Loved the Grant Hill pick. Very nice value for late in the 4th. Boards, assists, ftas... and turnovers. Not many threes for a 3-man, either. But it works pretty good with what you've got. Sleepy is an underrated guy in the sim, but I don't like him on this team. For one thing, you have a lot of possessions to share already with Moses, Willis (22% usage puts him right under the line for the next tier, but trust me, he'll shoot way more than you want him to), Miller and Hill... Adding another high volume guy like Sleepy to the mix is going to hurt (especially when two of your guys, Moses and Reggie, are high efg%). You're going to dominate on the boards (always good), though, and get to the line a lot. Turnovers and possession waste will come back to haunt you, though.

sappy - Wilt Chamberlain, Mookie Blaylock, Glen Rice, Bill Walton, Lamar Odom

I love both of these picks. I'm not sure how you're doing on finance$, however. If you can work it out, you've gotten Wilt the support he needs. If not... ouch. I think this will be a good team if you get the money situation figured out. I bet you're really glad you got Rice early, huh?

gtak - Dennis Rodman, Terry Porter, Amare Stoudemire, Alonzo Mourning, Jason Richardson

This is a nice mix of players. I don't care for the Zo pick, but he's the type of guy you needed. Rodman allows you to do stuff like this. J-Rich was a really nice pickup. You've got really nice inside-outside with Stoudemire and him... not to mention Zo and Porter (did I mention he's my favorite 42-million cap PG?). Lots of good here. Lots and lots of it.

scudmissle - Charles Barkley, Deron Williams, Carlos Boozer, Tom Boerwinkle, Nick Anderson

Boerwinkle had me whimpering and Anderson sealed the deal. Boerwinkle feeds Chuck even more... and Anderson is the perfect compliment guy to what you're doing with Chuck and D-Will. One of the few teams I'll say will definitely make the playoffs. You'd better not disappoint me *shakes fist*.

shapandrew7 - Michael Jordan, Tim Duncan, Donyell Marshall, Billy Paultz, Danny Ainge

I... ummm... Paultz? Really? I think you had better options, but I guess with your first three picks you were feeling the financial pressure. I like the Ainge pick. You're using 88-89 Jordan?

uvasooner - Magic Johnson, Zelmo Beaty, Calvin Natt, A.C. Green, Jason Terry

Love the Terry pick. I see the light. I see how this team is going to operate. I don't like it very much, though. I think as it stands, there will be a lot of inconsistencies that will drive the Ls up and the Ws down.

empdenied - Dwyane Wade, Steve Nash, Marcus Camby, Adrian Dantley, Clifford Ray

Ray's a good pick. I'm still not sold on this squad, though: Gotta see who you're going to fill the other 2,000 minutes at PF and the other 1,000 minutes at C with (or vice versa). But while those two guys are out there, you're in good shape (on the boards, at least)!

Yes sir. Had initially planned on using 95-96, but changed my mind to 88-89. The numbers of that year are too ridic to pass up.

I was shocked at Paultz myself - but ask ELeibo. Dude ain't half bad.
