Now I lost in the Sweet 16, so I'm obviously biased, but if the change in ratings affected some teams more than others, it seems to me you have to do the re-run. That said, it's also obvious why people who won into the final 4 are ******. It's a really tough situation either way.

Also, since I know seble is reading this thread, just want to second mbalding's and fatchance's comments.

I was wondering if anyone that actually lost in the S16 would say something. Congrats to john for being so far the only one.

The reason people are probably peeved is that intuitively, the chances of the outcome of a game being changed due to a game being re-simmed are orders of magnitude higher than the chances of the outcome being changed due to 20 overall rating points.

Knowing how RNGs work, that's not necessarily the case, but that's more a fault of RNGs rather than probability.

This is total Bull s... come on. Seriously we don't need to re run the games, let's not be poor sports, it's fictional any ways. When you lose, you lose. Whether by one point or 100 points, you lost. If you don't like it, there's always next year.

This is crap, if my team doesn't make the final four of the PI I want a redo too, or a freaking refund. yeah that's right, I'll employ a tatic, that's been proven unfortunately, that I can whine about something and screw everyone over who did it the right way.

We were all affected by the change, the results shouldn't change because of that. NO REDO. KEEP THE OLD RESULTS, just fix your technical error.

well i lost in the sweet 16 and if I were to win I agree that it wouldn't exactly be the sweetest victory. I guess some people's teams got screwed but I don't think mine was one of those teams

I don't see much whining here from people who lost sweet 16 games so I really do not see your point at all. Terrible first post.

Sorry, seble. In my vent of frustration, I may have directed it at you and the administration. I have now read that you lost the old results, and you can not go back. That is unfortunate. I believe we can make this a learning experience, in that if this were to happen again, let's not redo the results. Even if I was on the losing end, I wouldn't want the second chance, because it just wouldn't seem right. With that being said, I can't remember what my gameplans were the last few, so hopefully I'll get it right.

That's usually the only reason why a bunch of games would be reset, because someone complained about the rating affecting them to a loss. It may not be here in this post, in fact I doubt it is, but rather sent via email or support ticket, either way I am obviously assuming that.

If I looked at it correctly I believe MY team dropped about 12-13 points and my opponent in the S16 like 3-4. Of course we'll see what he does game plan wise

Speaking of which, another brilliant Sable move, leave the results up, announce they will be rerun and THEN take them down. Great idea, give everyone enough time to save the boxscores and pbp, a SMART idea would of been to remove the games and THEN make the announcement.........

My recommendation would be that if they are going to re-run games, do it with the same exact game plans.
5/27/2010 9:09 AM
Rails, that would make way too much sense, you think that was thought of? Of course not, same way it pretty much the entire thing has gone down, half assed

pump, I guess I should of worded that different, it was meant to say I wonder who crying about wanting a rematch. Your post certainly was not like that

I will chime in as another team that lost in the S16 -- I do NOT think they should re-run the games. If I win because of the RNG's second chance at it, I will not feel good about the win.

I have already let my opponent know in his CC that I am keeping my gameplan exactly the same. My opponent has a better team and I do not think I will win the second time either --- but if I do, well that is a real shame!!

Let me preface this by saying that I am a coach who lost in the S16 (under a different ID)....that being said, it sounds to me like what you had happen was a situation where a team goes into a game thinking they're going to be playing with a Lebron James from this year, a 6-year veteran who has developed a better outside shot and leadership qualities over that time, but instead got the Rookie Lebron James, who while talented, was NOT the same player he is today......

In some games, the other team may have had a similar experience with their Lebron, Kobe, Wade, etc.....while in other games, they either had no noticeable changes, or the players affected might have been the equivalent of Brian Scalabrine or Sebastian Telfair.....NOT an equitable hit at all...

I'll freely admit that Seble didn't rerun the games I wouldn't lose any sleep over it, and I'm NOT changing my gameplan, and will probably lose again as my opponent has beaten my 2x already.....and I'd probably be upset if I had won, and now end up losing instead.....but I do believe that Seble is doing what he believes is most fair and shouldn't be crucified for it.....disagreed with if that's your viewpoint, certainly, but not attacked the way he has been thus far....
