Oh and the fact that many of us have spent hundreds and thousands of dollars on this site as well.
It's a shame that the current problems have retroactively prevented you from getting any entertainment value out of the game at all.

That is not what I said Anton. I was making the point that since we have all started playing many of the issues have either been here all along or are now back. It seems as one thing is solved 10 other things tend to pop up. Oh and some solid Customer Service / letting us know what is up would be fantastic.
You weren't making a point there beyond expressing your feeling of entitlement.

Which is to be expected, I guess. The WIS business model sort of requires customers to get invested in their teams. But the fact that you have spent thousands of dollars on this site doesn't give you license to throw tantrums.

I did not throw a tantrum. I am expressing my concern over a change I view as poorly thought through just as you may or may not be defending it.

It's not about games being later, it's about things like season wrap up emails and some other stuff not running at the intended time.  Once things are moved to the new controller, times will vary by world anyway.  So recruiting responses would happen at different times for each world.
So I don't get it? We have games running 3 hours late... because the Season Wrapup email is suppose to be sent after them and not before? Something isn't adding up here. If the season wrapup email has to wait until after the games are done - then fine. But how is that being put off to the next cycle (as you say it was) pushing games back 3 hours?

How long before everything is on the new engine?  A month, two months, a year?
That's the million dollar question.

finally jumping in on this since i have not seen this brought up yet.

here is a big why recruit responses need to be first.  we know the recruiting cycle times currently as 2, 5, 8, 11.  when people are away from their main computer, on vacation, at work, etc...  it is (relatively) easy to sign on at 1:55, recruit for the one cycle, wait a couple of minutes, 2:01 get the responses, then recruit for the next cycle and sign off at 2:10.  15 minutes and you have covred two cycles.  running reponses at various times will make that impossible.  if that happens, and I cannot recruit "easily" - by hitting two cycles at once, it will cause me to consider rethinking how many teams i keep.

glen - I agree but we are only talking about 2 cycles being affected.  When no games are being played, I am under the impression that recruit responses will occur at the usual times.

This may be a stupid question but why isn't everything on the new engine already? One would think that when the new code was written it would have been done for ALL aspects of the game and everything would have gone to the new engine at the same time. I just don't understand why 2 engines are needed.

7/7/2010 2:13 PM
that is my undestanding as well Sully. If no games are being played (ie recruiting) the responses should happen at the top of the hou not 30 minutes or an hour later.

the way I am reading this is, once under the new engine EVERYTHING is going to be run world by world.  So if you are in world 10, who knows when the recruiting responses will come, if they go world by world.
7/7/2010 2:15 PM
read the last sentence "So recruiting responses would happen at different times for each world".
7/7/2010 2:16 PM
that would eliminate any chance of hitting two cycles at the same time for some worlds
7/7/2010 2:17 PM
I saw that and was ignoring it for now!  I was focusing on what would currently happen.  Presumably, when everything is on the new engine, if your "recruiting time" was 30 minutes past the hour, it would always be that time.  So, when on vacation, you could log in at 2:25 and get your responses by 2:30 and have the same 6 minute log in time.  At least that is what I am hoping it means.
7/7/2010 2:19 PM
if that is what it means, you are correct, but if it runs early one day for what ever reason.  we will just have to wait in see.  that is why the 2, 5, 8, 11 are nice, you can now plan around an "even" time

No, it'll mean each world will have a slightly different, but still regular, schedule. World 1 will run 2/5/8/11; World 2 will run 2:02/5:02/8:02/11:02; World 3 will run 2:04/5:04/8:04/11:04, etc.

You'll still be able to double-up on cycles, once the schedules are set. Of course, who knows when that will be.
7/7/2010 3:30 PM
Couldn't they just change it to run the old engine at 3 6 9 12 ....etc so everyone would get the full 3 hours for recruiting. Once it's all on the new engine everything will go through world by world as they have siad and it should be good then

Incidentally, it's starting to look more and more like Colonels was right.  He said he watched Seble destroy the NBA Sim and now we're all getting a first hand look at the slow destruction of HD.  Shame....this used to be a fun game.
Ditto!

The more I look at things the worse this game looks.  I would have always said something positive about Customer Service, but now, you stand more of a chance of getting a caustic response if anything meaningful at all from them.

One of my teams had my coach's reputation drop from an A+ to a B+.  We had done nothing to justify the drop, and Customer Service keeps no record of what might have caused this drop.   Yet, I am being told that it was something I must have done for it to happen.  Of the reasons why a reputation will drop, none of those occurred and I can't get anyone over there to admit that it was an error on their side instead of something I did.

The game needed a tweak and not the complete overhaul that we ended up getting, and the worst part is that there is no transitional coherence between the two.
