EOL Restart, Year I - ON THE CLOCK Topic

Bottom line is the cap is too much. 47mil is simply not fair for a league like this. 42mil gives everyone a fighting chance. If the Lakers don't win there should be an investigation.

Lakers didn't win any of the ones I was in for a $52M cap.  I think $47M cap is fine.  The lower cap gives other franchises a fighting chance.  I see no need for a $42M as we're sitting here talking about teams that used to not have a chance in hell being a top 10 team...

no issue mentioning players in this thread - there isn't player exclusivity.  Just be warned that you might mention someone that is available on multiple teams that another owner hadn't thought of, and that could positively impact their team and indirectly negatively impact yours.

Okay, I see Orlando, Miami & Toronto.  I'm on the fence about Minnesota (backcourt is great, frontcourt is almost great), but am pretty sure that they'll stand alone next time, or will be attached to the Grizzlies...

The Grizzlies... They suck.  Someone will have to prove to me otherwise.

The Hornets probably could, but I don't think they'd be anywhere close to overpowered with the other Charlotte franchise (which has zero chance) attached to them.

Just waiting on Katernberg to pick.
league # is in first post of this thread.

it seems to me that the teams that never get chosen in these leagues should be paired up.  does anyone ever pick the sacramento kings or indiana pacers with a 47 or 52 mil cap?
orlando and miami can stand on their own (after this next year miami won't be questionable)  break them out of the mixed group, but consider including indiana and/or sacramento.

also, i don't think the lakers are a lock at all.  sure they have a plethera of superstars, but they're all too overpriced to put on one team in a 47 league.  you could never have magic, kobe, baylor, wilt, shaq, and kareem all on the same team.  in fact, i'm willing to throw it down that the clippers will have a better record than the lakers squad.

Sacramento actually can be really good.  The Pacers are much better after 08-09 saw Troy Murphy become a sim god (murphy, mel daniels, reggie miller, danny granger, mark jackson/don buse at pg... the davises... detlef... dunleavy... yeah, the pacers have some sim-friendly players).

But your point(s) are valid.

Lakers will win 50+ in the hands of felonius.  If they win the whole enchilada, it will be because he's a damn good owner; not because the Lakers are loaded (even though they are - and it's mostly guys you didn't mention that can be twisted that gets them there).

I pick the New Jersey Nets

and that's a wrap!
let's get those teams in.  I'm working on my 2nd team as we speak.

when do we start the season?
7/14/2010 7:52 PM
when everyone's team is in.

Lakers have to stretch to find the requisite 3s in this sim environment - I heard a guy once won a league like this with Wilt-Haywood-Malone on the front line but that just wouldnt fly in today's sim

and you have to keep in mind that the PE for any of their big 3 Cs is 100% only at one position - give me the update with Wilt and Shaq interchangeable at PF/C and you've got a point but even then the friggin Clips can still counter with Moses/Walton/McAdoo/Nater which is pretty damn fierce too

hell Moses by himself makes like 7 teams contenders - the 76ers are ridiculous as are the Celtics - the Magic with Shaq/Howard/Wallace have as much big love as they need - I could go on but why point out the obvious to my competition?

im loving this warriors squad i put together....the murphy/donyell sf combo is awesome......if the 921 3s made can make up for the lack of ftas i might have a sleeper here

I was hoping the Warriors would slip.  The Golden State period gives you some great pieces to put around Wilt.
7/15/2010 10:48 AM
my all time lakers squad has Wilt / Kareem / Shaq sharing the PF/C role.   I'd rather have Kareem at 96% in the PF spot than Vlade Divac at 100%
and IRL I'm sure Kareem or Shaq would make a fine PF next to Wilt.  So I think the point is still valid.  Just can't put that team together at $47 mil.  Although no slight intended to felonius in my previous post, I'm sure the lakers are in good hands.

I'm considering using Brand/Camby over McAdoo/Nater.  I'd never do it IRL, but the SIM makes it tempting.
7/16/2010 1:53 AM
Yeah, but 96% of Kareem is no where near as good as 100% of someone else that is eligible.  Speaking purely sim, of course.  You'll see what I mean when the league starts, if you haven't already figured it out.
