My team will suck, but it will be fun. I tried this theme many years ago and I called it, "Guys I know, kinda." I have coached several players in the NBA, coached some of their kids as well and worked for the Suns. So I know a lot of guys, but it's not like they're my best friends or anything, so that's why I call it that. Of course there's no way to verify if I'm telling the truth, so would that work? Or should I just change it?

Welcome coach....you have earned some cred in your years on the site build your team as you like.  I trust your integrity

you can actually form a pretty good team from the Harlem Globetrotters.  Anyone who ever put on a uniform even for one exhibition game is listed here..

Includes Wilt Chamberlain, Magic Johnson, Connie Hawkins and other good complimentary starters.

my team barring any last min changes
Kevin Johnson-coached his little brother Ronnie West
Richard Jefferson- played on the AZ Stars AAU team I was a coach for
Dr. J- Was introduced to him by former ABA coach and Sun's assistant Al Bianchi. Doc was always very respectful to the ball boys.
Rick Barry- Probably the biggest *** of all players in the late 70's. Had a run in with him in the locker room and he threatend to have Colangelo fire me!
Kareem- Let's just say we had an incident on a bus once
Bench
Mike Bibby- Another AZ Stars AAU player
Paul Westphal- Believe it or not Paul used to coach Boy's Club basketball for free! When his son Michael, whom I've coached, played there.
Cedric Ceballos- Funny guy. My friend known as, "the shot doctor," used to take me with him when Ceballos would call him up to help him work on his FT
Truck Robinson- You get pretty close to a guy when you're in charge of making sure no one comes in the locker room while he's taking a crap!!!
Alvan Adams- Of all the players, the one I know best. He's done many clinics for me and I've coached his son Justin. Probably the most humble man ever. Alvan honestly thinks he wasn't very good!
Lionel Hollins- Lil Train. Gave me his shoes all the time. Enough said
Mark West- Whenever you request a former Sun to speak at a banquet or something like that, guess who you get?

Since my try at theme league creation is dead, I'm trying to import the concept here.

Team Socialism?! : All 12 players will be above certain salary, like everyone more than 1(?) million dollar.

I would like to receive some input as to what would be a good minimum salary level, thus make the team creation a challenge, yet leaves enough flexibility to field a competitive team. Please advise me on a good minimum salary number.

coachcroft, do tell - How were you in a position to meet all these guys?  What did you do for the Suns?

I loved Rick Barry's game, but I've heard repeatedly he was a colossal jerk.

Loved Alvan Adams' game.  Unfortunately not well remembered today.

I think $1m-$2m is good, or you can do true socialism (or really communism lol)  and have everyone $3-$4m.  Haven't tried it but think that would be tough

1 million is a good minimum for this salary level to force you to spend money on your bench.  There are some good players between $1 mil and $3.5 mil.  Chuck Hayes, Marcin Gortat, Greg Oden, Danny Fortson, Chris Gatling, Patrick Ewing, Roy Tarpley.  Magic, Kirilenko.
I think to round out the socialist theme you need to have both a minimum and a maximum.  No player below $1 mil and no player above $7 mil, or something like that.

or you could have Yao Ming's highest paid season (he's the Mao Tse-tung) and everybody else between $1 and $7 million.
You could call it Yao Tse-Tung.

Brad- I was a locker room attendent/ball boy. I was the only ball boy allowed in John McLeod's office because he knew I wanted to be a coach. A lot of the players got wind of this and kinda took me under their wing or at least viewed me differently. Unfortunately, the highest level I ever got was boy's high school varsity unless you include some recruiting for Youngstown State, Yavapai Community College and directing some of their camps. I have however, won a national AAU championship with boy's 14 & under. That was a great team that also finished 3rd in the national BCI tournament suffering only a narrow loss to New York Riverside Church. Now I'm just coaching freshman girls for shitz and giggles! I like not having the responsibiliy and liability that comes with being a varsity coach nowadays. The red tape and paper work is a mile long. A girl's parents have to fill out a 3 page document allowing someone to pick up their daughter after a game other than themselves. Let someone else worry about that for a few hundred bucks a week and I'll just teach freshman how to dribble and keep reminding them on defense you can stay in the key as long as you want
