It was not intended to make sense.

I suppose in the new era of sim Brand is worth having...

I have an idea who you might take for the 2-  if he is gone I would not be surprised if you took another PG.  (i.e., I have no idea / with you, I (we) never know what you will do).  And because I assume a guard... you will show me by picking a low post player.

In the end... the gibberish equals my ability to assess teams.  It was more a reflection of me than anything else.

 GIBBERISH!

LOUD NOISES!!

"Unless of course you are mislead to think that you have to declare before the slot selection process starts.... you do not have to select closer to 1, closer to 24, or whatever.... you can wait and decide (but this will not bode well for you since there is a wait involved).  People can always selected a specific slot by message to me (i.e., my favorite number is 16.... I want the 16th slot if available.  if not I will take closest to 16.  Or closet to 5.  Or I will post later when I get back) OR they can wait til their slot time is up and post an exact number.  Its always been that way... the "Closer to X" people simply do so because they do not care one way or another.  So I cater to those that do not care, those that want a turn slot or time slot for their needs, those who it makes a difference to, and just about everyone except for the 24th owner to select"

sorry felonius... the above explanation is the true GIBBERISH! garbled monkey talk. but, yeah, "it's the best damn format in all the sim!"

and this explanation comes from the fellow who made the league wait 8 hours to make a pick, then when he did finally show and make his pick, he chose a player already taken... then made us wait an additional 4.5 hours to try and reselect his player (a 4th no-show in a row). yeah, you got kicked out of the league, coley, for being a nincompoop. thanks for your clear and eloquent explanation of rocket scientry. of course, owners have to ask to get times updated during the draft , but that's the way it is here in the coley-run odl.

I'll agree that coley's explanation there doesn't look very clear, but the bottom line is the draft selection process is pretty simple. No new owner or person below you in the selection process got closer to your desired spot than you did. When you're relatively low in the slot selection process, you end up with crappy picks in the middle/back, like me.

there is one guy on the board I'm amazed is still there...in fact I was hoping to take him after my last pick before I realized I had to get a rebounder this round.

Sorry scud... tried to dumb it down but thats about as far as I can go.  Funny you do not respond to me directly.... me thinks you realize I am more right than wrong.

Another derogatory post regarding slots or my preference to take care of family before drafting and we will move forward without you.  I rather get dumped for being late due to real life stuff than for being a bitter jackass about simple things I do not understand.

teams that look really good to me so far:

sappy - love the first three picks. You'll still need to put more rebounding with Moses, and that might be tough at the end of the 4th round, but you'll certainly have options. You thinking of using Allen's amazingly efficient 10-11 season?

ncih - well, you're set with scoring and assists for sure. Great to be able to start w/ LeBron at 5, and Dirk is a perfect compliment. Again, you'll need
lots of rebounding, but you can afford one-dimensional guys in that area. Nice start.

felonius - you're set up pretty perfectly; your biggest remaining need is a mid-usage bomber at SG, which might be the most plentiful quantity in the sim right now. Thanks to Brand you don't even need a lot of rebounding from your remaining post player, gives you a lot of options. I like my own team, but wish I had what you have right now - the flexibility to go in several different directions in the last few rounds.

captainzen - tough to rule on a team with just two players, but I think Mailman/Bigshot is a perfect combo to start out with. Low fouls and turnovers, plenty of scoring and threes, some passing. Obviously you have to get some rebounding (you'll probably take the guy I want) but you're positioned well to do that at the turn.

eleibowitz - holy cow, that's a lot of high efg scoring you've got there, lots of FTA too, with good assists to go along. You're probably pretty high in terms of salary so far, but you have options in a 47 mil cap. I love all of these guys individually, and I expect they'll work well together. Great start

I agree that we were late getting on the clock for this draft, but that was because my home internet crashed so I was not able to start the schedule on Monday because I could not get online.

We filled late on Friday and we stopped going on the clock on weekends years ago because there are too many skipped picks because some owners do not check in on the weekends.

There was one draft that started on a Saturday that the guy with the first pick did not show up until late Sunday because he was out of town and did not log onto the site.

If the draft fills early during the week, we could go on the clock sooner, but I would never go "on the clock" on the weekend.

you guys began the berating. tarheel and his drama queen wise crack and then you jumping in with 2 condenscending explanations. and now a threat. i originally posted my thoughts, like others do. if you feel you have to kick me out, your call. next time when someone expresses his feelings, try backing off the police state attitudes. and i'd be happy to smail you personally, but why the secrecy?

Wow, what's going on here, guys?

This'll be the 2nd ODL in a row that I won't have taken part of.  The previous one was because I really didn't want to do a $42M league with the current salary structure.  This time... no offense to Glen because he's a great guy... but it looked like Glen was running it and while I liked the cap, things move awfully slow when he's in charge, possibly because he runs so many theme leagues, and possibly because he rightfully prioritizes RL over WIS.  Still, I just didn't really feel like the creeping process was something I wanted to take part of.  Plus I have too many teams atm.

I LOVE the process for selecting draft slots in this league and would like to lend my support to it.  There is absolutely no reason an owner should win the league and then have (arguably) the best draft slot the following year.  That's why I tried to encourage Glen to go that route with the funk52 draft.  But he didn't, and since he took over, that's his call, and that's perfectly fine.  But I still think this is the superior way to do the draft.

I've never really understood the heat and tension that comes from people taking a while to draft... that's why there's time slots.  Monkee & I went back and forth on this issue and in the end just had to agree that neither of us would ever convince the other.  But the time it has been taking to start (pretty much) all of the repeatable leagues has really gotten on my nerves.  When I don't have a team I'm looking forward to drafting, I build an OL or a theme that's up & running.  And then when the draft finally gets ready to start, I have too many teams...

If this league is still $47M and the same draft slot process, there's a good chance I'll return next go round.  I've already decided to drop the funk52 that's now going to be $57M next season.

Not that that should matter at all... except then you all know you'll be playing for 2nd since I own the ODL, no matter where I draft.  =)

(ps - I'm kidding.  Sort of!)

Its not about secrecy scud.  Its about respect.  You want your students calling you out in front of the class or do you want him/her to stop by after class and discuss it?

Neither of the explanations were given to be berating in any way.  There's only so many ways to explain it and I asked you to tell me when/where the draft was not fair to you.  I do not see a response to that effect.

You could have responded to my message regarding the Master Draft... but chose to ignore it.

As far as police state attitudes.... I am nice enough to request a different approach from you-  while you chose to dump and run with me.  Not sure we agree on what police state means.  But those not in charge in a police state are usually just an oversight and I did not want to treat you as such.

I am moving on from this topic.  We will just have to agree to disagree.

the inter-round turn around picks should be left in the sure hands of veterans apparently
