The hard part for me in that league is trying to guess how everyone else will approach it so I can build my pitching staff. Will everyone go for the bare minimum requirements? Will people spend on defense? Does high average mean low walks and HR, meaning I can afford pitchers with higher BB/9 and HR/9? I keep battling myself on how much to spend on each.

I may be overthinking it, but I think this post nails the whole point of the WISC - it's not just picking the best team for any given theme in a vacuum...it's picking the best team given what you expect everyone else to do. The game theory here is intense.

To me this is what makes this game so much fun, Even though I'm not good like you guys, It's a huge numbers game followed by a huge game of chess.  I LOVE IT.
I'm flattered that you consider me "good".  You're delusional, but I'm flattered

Is there a WISC for dummies book that I can get?

I can write you one for $50.  I'll call it "WISC For Dummies...by Dummies."

IN the 120 MIL league.   I just want to make sure that I can use either .400 hitter as my DH.    There is nothing in the rules that says the musts play in the field, but I want to make sure.

Correct

schwarze, do you have the cheat codes for these leagues handy? I'd very much like to build teams that are guaranteed to win

I'm anxious to see the team building thread to see if the 100m team is giving anyone else as many fits as it is me.  I've made several different teams that I think that can succeed but none that are as optimized as I really strive for.  The requirement that each pitcher have at least three 1m teammates is really a thorn in my side.

yep - I could have spent another month playing with that team.  unfortunately I'm a commish for that league....finally settled on a team just to get it in.....

I decided the easiest thing was to settle on two great pitchers and two average pitchers with great teammates, and piece it together from there.  Haven't found a combo I'm excited about yet though.  I have a feeling for a lot of these leagues (aside from the two with 300K exceptions), it's going to come down to who can find the cheapest bench to maximize their dollars.

Four leagues have 300K exceptions, plus the other two aren't that hard to find <300K players.  I don't think any of the 6 leagues is hard to fill in the bench.

My bad, I thought only two did.
