It had everything to do with protecting us. We didnt have another domestic terror attack since 9/11.
It isnt an issue of being cavalier. It is just a matter of math. We fought a brutal war for 8 years and took 4000 casulaties. I say thats earns a medal.
The 9/11 attacks did not originate from Iraq. If Saddam did one thing well, it was keeping al-Qaeda out of Iraq.
Most of the 19 hijackers have roots in Saudi Arabia.
We already know from your posts that you have a very low regard for human life, especially non-Americans.
No one should ever earn a medal for taking human life.
No one ever said 9/11 came from Iraq.
What we did say, and still say, is there was a regional threat. Starting a war there kept the fighting away from us and our allies.
It also forced them to commit to the ground. They had to put boots on the ground where we could blow them up.
It also disupted travel. A group of terrorists trying to get out of the region would have a much harder time of it.
I would love it if we had an Orbiting Death Star and could destroy our enemies with no loss to our lives. That is not possible.
If we are going to be a world power and defend our interests abroad American soldiers are going to die. Again simple math.
And if Bush was such a disaster why is Obama doing so many things the same?
