Emy--14/Dcy--8 (both now active again)/Angmar--2 (long, long since retired) have 24 combined. FWIW

Lost in the Knight D2 title game last night in my quest for Emy--15 (total--25)

Also FWIW, Emy/Dcy have no teams in the same worlds for anyone wondering about that.....
Damn, that's one I knew of and forgot to add to the conversation.... my err!!!
No worries Dogg! I haven't won any titles in a minute now and had actually retired for a few seasons before getting the "itch" again.

Picked up a team in Knight that had been human coached but run by a Sim for one season and managed to go 34-0 until Shoe got me by 3 in the title game 63-60. Oddly enough, of all 24 titles I've won, I've yet to have an undefeated season. It's the last thing I need to accomplish on my HD bucket list. I've won titles at D3, D2, at three different D1 schools (all in Tark no less!), with all the different O's and D's, done the back-to-back thing, but have always had a loss in there somewhere, so if you're reading this Shoe.......thanks for killing the dream!!!!!

No worries... I'll take pride in killing your Naismith dream tonight too. Hahaha kidding! Good luck tho. This is one of my better teams in a while. Hope the HD gods help me see it thru

i always thought the undefeated thing was a bit of a scam accomplishment! i totally get the appeal but going to ramble about it anyway. i feel like the regular season is all about winning the NT, and as such is explicitly not about going 26-0!

i also think the massive difficulty range is part of it. if you are in a really dominant conference playing a tough non conference, that 35-0 is just completely insane in difficulty. i think a really tough schedule 35-0 is just ridiculously hard and worthy of the utmost respect. but an easy 35-0 feels not very much harder than a regular title. it feels like someone could try to cheese it, and could pick up a 35-0 on every other title. and how do you know which is which? SOS is a gimmick, and there is *huge* range in the difficulty of #1 sos - but i kinda feel like 35-0 on #1 sos, i could kinda get behind as being a thing. i personally can't get on board with just regular 35-0s! i honestly have no idea if i have one or not. if so i think it would have to be ages ago when i was a new coach but i very well never did.

i personally think winning with every set (7 sets) is one of the coolest of all achievements!

Now 35-0 with the #1 RPI/SOS will have to be another on my bucket list. Thanks Jeff, ha ha!!

I think that’s a fairly common (relative to crazy accomplishments) accomplishment. I’ve done it once, and have was a championship loss away from twice in a row. I’ve seen a lot of others do it.

Can't remember if I've said this, but I agree! And I have won with them all except zone. Winning with every set was a goal I set out to accomplish long ago and did so fairly quickly. But I just push zone aside and act like it doesn't exist. So 6 sets make me happy! (Yea yea I know. It doesn't really count then. Sighhhhhh. Maybe I'll actually try it sometime and get all 7)

I haven’t won with motion, and probably won’t for the foreseeable future, since all my teams are flex now. I haven’t won with a straight zone, but I have won 4 titles now with press/zone combo, so I think that counts double, right?

i don't know that i count hcp as different, we've traditionally talked about 7 sets around here as the benchmark - i think you'd be in for zone. i guess we could call it 9 sets, considering hcp/man and hcp/zone as distinct, but i don't think very many people look at it that way. my personal zone title, i mixed in some hcp, mostly during the NT. i still count it! there might be something to your preference for hcp, as i have been in... i don't know, a handful of title games with zone. but i only won 1 - the only one i paired with hcp. i think its luck though :) but i don't mean to start an argument, i know we disagree on that one!

congrats on the 3peat! that's awesome. i kinda am thinking that is a first for you? i recall a pretty fantastic (all time great) d3 program you had a really long time ago, but not enough to know the answer, and now im curious!

edit: i'm sure you don't mind me saying this - part of the reason i'm curious is, at one point in time, a 'new wave' of dominant d3 coaches came along that made their presence felt.. extremely. at least, this is how i recall it. i loosely lumped 3 coaches together as the cream of the crop - narcotico, jsa, and yourself (hopefully it goes without saying, that that is a major compliment - but some newer folks may not be aware of the weight of those names - but to put it lightly, its a lot). i seem to recall narcotico got his 3peat, twice, at the same program - and i think jsajsa set all the standards for the top d3 program of all time, by the time the dust settled. i assume he got his? not 100% on that, but it seems like a safe bet, i'd be pretty shocked if he didn't. for some reason i thought you were still looking for yours - but now i am wondering, because i do recall it was a ridiculously awesome program you had, too. it just seemed to slightly get overshadowed, with narcotico getting 2 3peats in the high visibility tark world (back then) and jsa tearing it up not just at that one program but like, three?

Thanks gillispie. I actually got the 3-peat last season with my Louisiana squad in Naismith; we got knocked out in the S16 this season. But I am on track for a possible 3-peat with my Wooden Beloit team. We won our second in a row last night, and should return a pretty strong team next season (depending on how recruiting ends up). You're probably referring to my Beloit program, which has been successful for a long time. I've had a few hot streaks over the years, where we had a stretch of 5-6 really successful seasons, but I think our current hot streak is the best we've ever had.

I don't know narcotico, but I competed against jsa in both Wooden and Naismith. He was the long-time coach at NC Wesleyan in Wooden, and at Southwestern in Naismith, where we competed directly against each other. He and I were part of a crew of DIII super coaches (most of us from Wooden) that took over the University Athletic Association conference. That was the most competitive conference I have ever coached in - by far - and it was tons of fun. jsa won back to back titles at Southwestern there, but he never got a 3-peat. I think the same is true for his NC Wesleyan squad in Wooden. I think he left when the new recruiting format was introduced, but I'm not sure about that.

very interesting, thanks for the history! i always like hearing that stuff. and congrats again - even if it is a season late :)

i was so skeptical about his lack of a 3-peat, i had to check! this is end of 2015 accurate list of d3 3peats:

Consecutive National Championships - division 3
Place, Streak, Team, Conference-World, Coach(es)
1 3 Delaware Valley Freedom-7 jsajsa
2 3 Greensboro USA South-8 narcotico
3 3 Martin Luther CCIW-1 mrg1037
4 3 Texas, Dallas ASC-5 bunkerbuster

a single school cannot show up on these lists twice - which is why narcotico shows once, with his two 3peats at the same school. i also was glancing over some historical greatest dynasty ever stuff from 2016 - jsa had 3 programs in the top 10 of d3 history for like, 10 seasons or something. sounds like you are talking about 2/3 there - the 3rd is the one where he actually got the 3peat apparently! that is what was so crazy about the jsa success IMO - he was running 3 of the greatest d3 programs of all time all roughly at the same time. im not sure all 3 really overlap but it was close enough. but yeah looks like delaware valley in world 7 is where he punched his 3peat ticket

that said - im sure there's more 3peats in the 5ish years since that data was gathered - i think i remember seeing at least 1 new one posted here on the forums, maybe 2. but still, you might be one of 5-7 people to ever pull a d3 3peat. pretty cool!
