I was just really worried that it would box me into subpar post defense on pretty much all my teams, particularly given Shaq's positional limitation, even though KAT could obviously spend some of his minutes backing Shaq up.

KAT was definitely BPA, and gives you two great high-volume scorers and TONS of 3s already, but it leaves you with 2 poor defenders in your starting 5 as well. Interesting move. I’m sure you’ll make it work, but it’s one of the more interesting combos so far.

Wondering if jkaye embraces the lack of defense and just goes balls to the wall (or maybe in the air in this case) or tries to cover it up with defense everywhere else. Me - I'd just own it and see if an average to below average team can take it. No way you turn this into a good defensive squad so why middle it.
Posted by tarheel1991 on 3/11/2021 12:18:00 PM (view original):Yeah he's definitely a better fit with Howard than Shaq, especially because (1) Howard is a better defender than Shaq and has the positional flexibility to cover Towns that Shaq doesn't, and (2) both he and Howard have a mix of tier 2 and 3 usage seasons, so they could sort of cover for each other in that respect. But it's tough to pull the trigger and commit to five seasons of sub-50 D in the second round. (Not that it couldn't pay off big time, just like it could with guys like Jokic and Nash).
