And it never fails that I go through the whole process and hit enter before the error and a groan that I was in safari. Guess I’ll learn one of these days but it’s been years. Haha

hmm...never used Safari but, then again, I have never owned an Apple product.

Three out of the four games today were in the AM as the 14th bid was secured. butterfiles united joins Club de Fútbol Deportivo Cotopaxi as the other Group H team to advance, crushing my inept German side Fußball-Club Köln 01/07 e. V. 5-1 on the road. Die Gießböcke actually grabbed the 1-0 lead when Alonzo de La Macorra guided a header into the back of the net. That apparently made butterfiles mad, as they scored 5 unanswered, highlighted by a hat trick from American forward Speedy Bell. butterfiles will win the group and the #3 seed if they take care of business in their last stage game, otherwise, Cotopaxi will be the #3 seed.

Cotopaxi did what they could as far as seeding is concerned when they grabbed a 4-2 road win over Der Kaiserlich-Österreichische Hodensack. Like the aforementioned game, Hodensack went up 2-0 in the first half, pumping up the crowd of 9,187 into believing they had a chance. They didn't. The Ecuadorian club owned the 2nd half, Maeyken Bastin and Sceley Ballouchy both scoring a pair. The Crown Jewels get a final chance to grab some points when the play Köln on the 9th in a fight to stay out of the bottom.

kangaroo fc did indeed grab the #2 seed as they finish off Group A with a resounding 3-0 victory over the defending Champs Rushmore FC, officially ending the tournament for the Cup XII winners. Croat Helge Buturajac scored three times as kangaroo broke open a scoreless first 45 minutes to ease to the win. kangaroo gave up only two (2!) goals in six Group games. That is getting it done.

One game this afternoon, FC Cackalacky goes for the win and in with their matchup against Fianna AFC in Group F.

In the standings, why does one team from each group have dots behind it?

Let's go Lads! Win and advance! Good luck Fianna AFC!

Looks like just a formatting thing. Probably easier to keep things lined up that way. You'll notice it's the longest team name in each region that has the dots.

Thanks gomiami! My Rushmore club lost a lot of free agents at the end of June and we just didn't have the horses to compete this year. We shall recoup!

Good luck to all in the knockout round!

You team usually has a ton of firepower so I was surprised by the group stage exit.

Rushmore FC doesn't rebuild, they reload.

dw is absolutely correct. The chart/graph maker WIS supplies is *horrible* so what you are looking at is Microsoft Excel. But, when I copy/paste from Excel, WIS doesn't interpret the Excel spreadsheet correctly. You can see what the WIS program does to Excel in other threads, especially SIM League Baseball progressive league threads which generally import a ton of data...numbers are snaked, columns are randomly right justified, then center justified, etc..

So, I use periods to manually format column and row width, justification and the like so that the standings look as visually pleasing as possible. Most of my formatting periods are actually hidden. A LOT of them I color white to make them invisible.

"One game this afternoon, FC Cackalacky goes for the win and in with their matchup against Fianna AFC in Group F."

Actually there is no game today between Cackalacky and Fianna. The game I saw was a duplication that I commented several days ago as not counting, so this 1-1 draw was just for fun, just like the game that was played on 7/4. The Cackalacky home game of record was on 6/28 and was won by Cackalacky 2-1...it is the 2nd game listed below the Group F standings.

The Fianna AFC home games are as follows - home against Fighting Ants on 7/8 at 7am, home against FC Cackalacky on 7/8 at 7pm and home against Swamp City Dragons on 7/10.

Sorry about that. Group F will start the final stretch in the morning.

Yeah, I just realized when I saw we were at home. Hopefully we can do better than the exhibition tie on the road.

Looks like we are potentially going to have high drama all the way to the end for Group F. Fianna AFC, sitting at 0-3 and being the last team to schedule their home games, decided to lace up their cleats and play some serious soccer. Fighting Ants was playing for their playoff lives as they needed a positive result. A scoreless tie in the 1st half ended when Murtagh MacNaboe found the back of the net with his header from the top of the box in the 49th minute. From that point, Fianna kept pouring it on, as Ants goalie Nacho Moran was unable to keep the game close after Ants midfielder Artur Wieniawski was sent off after a reckless challenge. Ordsone Cudney added two and MacNaboe scored again as Fianna won the game 4-0.

The loss eliminated the young Ants squad from the competition and clinched a playoff spot for Swamp City Dragons. Fianna controls its own destiny and will take the final Knockout birth if it wins its final two home games. FC Cackalacky needs a win or tie in its game tonight or a Fianna loss or tie against Swamp City on the 10th.

butterfiles united had a difficult time at home but did just enough to secure the top spot in Group H and earn the #3 seed as they beat Fußball-Club Köln 01/07 e. V. 2-1 at home. Mauro Marín broke the 1-1 tie with his effort in the 75th minute from straight away that deflected off the fingertips of German goalie Rüdiger Tauber. The win knocks Club de Fútbol Deportivo Cotopaxi, who also finished group play with 15 points but lost the tiebreaker by goal differential, down to the #9 seed...which is a lot of points for a 2nd place team.

The Fianna home game against Cackalacky is this evening with the final transfer spot on the line.

Dang it! 9 seed, basically the worst seed
combined with 8.

Well, you have to beat them all at one point or another in order to earn the glory...but yeah, the 8/9 is not in the ideal spot if the seeds hold in the First Round.

The final playoff spot has been clinched as FC Cackalacky earns its way into the Knockouts as the 2nd place team out of Group F. Going into the game, Fianna AFC needed to win to keep their hopes alive, whereas Cackalacky just needed to avoid losing. The game drew 30,704 crazed Irish fans as the city of Dublin had never stopped celebrating the win last night.

Both teams came out firing, resulting in near misses. Deegan Colcroft for Fianna made a diving one-handed save followed almost immediately by a Fianna shot that bounced off the crossbar. But the tie was never broken and as the game went on, the Cackalacky defense became more entrenched. Fianna's last scoring chance came in the 77th minute as Murtagh MacNaboe took a shot that beat Cackalacky goaltender Rudolf Hofstetter but just kissed off the far post and out for a goal kick. The 0-0 final hands the group to Swamp City Dragons and eliminates Fianna from the tournament.

There is one Group G game tomorrow and then the final Group Stage game between Fianna and Swamp City, which will have a major impact of playoff seeding.
