Indeed you did! I guess I was so overcome by excitement when I looked at their roster I stopped reading your note.

whalers10 gets the 1946 Pittsburgh Pirates.

Maybe not the worst overall team out there but a nice match for his 1966 Giants.

Vilefileman gets the 76 California Angels. Good match for his 66 White Sox.

I made an error on marking page one. Thanks to calhoop for noticing.

Jeff was given the 36 Phillies. I had marked off the 26 Phillies.

To be clear the 26 Phillies are still available and the 36 Phillies belong to jeff.

i guess this league isn't really conducive to using timed slots for picks.

Timeslots really only work for the fourth round.

I'll use them for that round.

So I was the sports editor of my college newspaper in 1978 and I was in my office typing out a story of the Red Sox beating the Yankees in the one game playoff to decide the AL East. Deadline was close so I was writing the story with some satisfaction while listening to the game on the radio.

Though I was born in Brooklyn and grew up on Staten Island, I was a Mets fan and absolutely hated everything Yankee. It came from my dad who was a Brooklyn Dodger fan, who later switched to the New York Giants when Leo Durocher moved to the Giants. Anyway, we liked the Mets, went to Shea a lot, but we really hated the Yankees, especially Phil Rizzuto.

So when Bucky F***ing Dent hit his homer, I had to start my story over and it was much less fun to write.

Anyway, here I am 45 years later and Seay throws those same Yankees in my face. Thurman Munson, Chris Chambliss, Willie Randolph, Graig Nettles, Mickey Rivers, the whole cast of overrated divas I had to watch year after year. The endless sportswriters debates of who would be MVP? Rivers? Munson? Nettles? Randolph as if any of them actually deserved it

So how do I screw this sick gang of overhyped bums?

Looking at the roster, I am perplexed? Someone is missing? Where's Bucky F****ing Dent? What's Fred Stanley doing at shortstop?

This omission makes me take a step back. Maybe I've been too harsh? As annoying as they were, these teams did win while the Mets were horrible in the late 70's. Yes, that settles it.

I'm going to grow and be by far the bigger man.

Seay --It's a year early, but I complete your team by gifting you Bucky F***ing Dent and the rest of the

1976 Chicago White Sox

So Kentol. I feel for you on this gift. The sweetest gift with a lineup plenty full of crappy options to compliment those 46 Cardinals. Lot of holes to fill in that lineup. Stan the man Musial, the 3B and 1 OF will cost you and those starting pitchers aren't cheap. So, you need to be very frugal in finding some durable guys in the diamond, the OF, a utility guy or a useful starter or bullpen guy. You need filler my friend to balance out those high flyers. I introduce you to the 1946 Philadelphia Athletics.

So much to like. A decent SS in Suder there. A couple of very nice slap hitting OFs, but wait, not much durability there. Maybe you could take 'em both and platoon them. A 2-fo-1 is just what you need to cut costs bubba. Oh you have Sam Chapman, my bad. He could play everyday and does everything exceptionally ordinary. Some bench guys that aren't too expensive, but you won't want to play them in any game that matters.

What's in the pitching den-- there are 2 affordable starters there, but a significant drop off from those Cards starters. I wanna see those starters round out your rotation with those top notch WHIP numbers. Any relievers? There is Flores who is the perfect hybrid. With 164 IP, you could just pitch him everyday in the pen, or also use him as a spot starter. He is not the low budget type that you need though. The other middle inning and set up options there are ideal to bolster the Cards, or should I say another save opportunity blown from the mouth of Harry Caray! Surely, you jest.

jpeterso gets to deal with the 1926 Philadelphia Phillies

I struggled to find just the right bad team but in the end _jwillis gets the '46 St. Louis Browns. You get a decent short stop option but not much else.

Beernoser gets the 1936 Philadelphia A’s. Some decent players but hopefully redundant with the strengths of the 1946 Tigers.

Ermocito is gifted the 1936 St Louis Browns
