well, as a bystander that isn't a fan of either team, i have to agree that niemi didn't play well. i didn't see him make any game saving saves, and i thought he was weak on at least half the goals against. the hawks signed huet to be their number one. niemi didn't get it done, so give huet a chance. wouldn't be the first time a backup (if you want to call him that) came in part way into the playoffs to take over from the starter. cam ward wasn't supposed to be playing in the playoffs the year carolina won the cup.

that being said, if vancouver continues to play the way they did the other night, and especially luongo, they could not only take the series, but take the cup. you guys were playing like you want it, and looked more like a cup contender than you have since '94. :>

He kept them in the game in the first period. If it wasn't for Niemi it would have been 4 or 5-0 in the first alone. They just never got going and eventually Vancouver got to him because he had very little help from a defense that had a combined 8 turnovers in the defensive zone and was a -8 or -9 I believe.

sorry andru, but i didn't think either of those saves were great saves. good saves yes, but more a product of the canucks not getting a decent shot away than niemi doing much to stop it. feel free to disagree. :>

Ok fair enough Mike. Everyone's entitled to their take, I just think that both were really athletic plays to even get in the way of the shot. I for one really hope the Canucks players share your opinion.

ok,here's the game plan..you know VCR will be shorthanded atleast 3 or 4 times in the 1st period,Bettman wants the Hawks to win ..so you might as well make them worthwhile, come out flying and run over Niemi,just like Glen Anderson used to do,next you take a boarding call against Kane run him thru the glass if you have too..next up Hossa,just in case he has any thoughts of showing up you quash those in the 1st period..Toews? well Toews is Canadian you cant faze him,mentally tough.. now youve eliminated Niemi again and Hossa who probably wasnt going to show up anyway..Kane is a toss up,he's like a cockroach.he may still surface to hurt you ,but hey you tried..last penalty would be on Sharp,he is French Canadian ,i beleive ?so he probably has his golf vacation tenatively planned for S.Carolina anyway but you face wash any courage out of him early..4 penalties ,you hope Luongo can stand on his head..and its game on,pop a few easy ones on Niemi again and you go home up 2-0.

Well they can only do so much andru. They can put a team on the PP most of the game (like Pittsburgh in game 1) but if the weaker team (in this case Chicago) doesn't have the talent or drive to take advantage of it, they're still going to lose.
