i agree ag, it's not all on sutter, but if he keeps trying to win "this year" we're not gonna win this year, or next year, or the year after that, and so on. if he wants to keep his job long term, he needs to start planning for the present AND the future. trading away dustin boyd after playing him on the fourth line with a couple goons for half of a couple seasons was just stupid. nobody can develop or even produce in that situation. i agree with backlund. i'd say put him on line one or two all season. it's not like we have a lot of star power to warrent bumping him down to line four, regardless of how he's playing. the only good thing about a lot of these veterans is that they are at the point in their careers where they are willing to be team players. if morrison is told he's playing on line three, or even line four, he'll accept it and go out and do the job he's given. the downside of some of the moves sutter has made (with the chances on veterans or young players) is that when they actually do work out, we usually can't afford to keep the players because some other team is willing to offer them more money. :>
