I'm calling BS. Everyone has the same odds of being successful. Everyone has the same opportunities to go to college, an argument can be made that minorities have more opportunity for this. Saying one race of criminal is more likely to go to jail than another is not a good argument. Everyone has the choice to not commit the crime at all. My adopted son, who I adopted when he was 14 made choices to do the right thing is on track to be successful at 20 years old. The fact that he's black hasnt hampered him at all. His cousins have chosen to go the gang route and do drugs and they are on a path to add nothing to society. They grew up in the same environment for 14 years, but some made the right choice and some didn't. That's what it comes down to.
You pointed out the flaw in your argument yourself. First, the college thing is some BS. There are programs to help minorities because white people statistically go to ad graduate college more than black or Hispanics. And again, the issue is not committing crimes (both races do it about equally) it is going to JAIL for those crimes, which black people do MUCH more than whites. Additionally, I was at a poverty simulation once. There were about 200 people in the room. The leader said, "Everyone who has been pulled and taken out of their car by the police, stand up." About 10 black people stood up, and only 3 white people did, and white people outnumbered black people in the room 2:1. This all leads to your last point about your son. Now, I would assume that your son grew up with good leadership and in a nice household with good parents like you. But Black people statistically have a less likely chance of that happening. Again, more black people grow to jail and due to the racism in the suburbs and Nixon policies giving them drugs, the mentality around the 'hood' was created. So, yeah, in the end you make your own choices. But when the only thing you grow up with is a dad going in and out of jail, drugs, crime, etc, yeah, you may not have the best life either.
