As with all sanctions handed down by the NCAA, the guilty aren't the ones who get punished.   That said, if there's every been a lack of "institutional control", PSU has shown us what it is.   The NCAA, in light of the criminal trial, had to do something to PSU if for no other reason than to send a message to all other schools about cover-ups and the repercussions of them.  From a football standpoint, it's probably too severe.  From a human standpoint, it wasn't enough.

Probably 5 years too late but the Yanks couldn't continue to play Ibanez, Nix, Wise and Jones in LF.  With Gardner out indefinetly, I think it's a good move.   Plays D, steals bases, puts pressure on the other team to make plays, he's Gardner with a lower OBP.   I'm not dumb enough to think that Ichiro will suddenly start taking pitches but I can hope he accepts the way the Yankees play and tries to start working counts.

I think they'll be found liable in civil court.   And, eventually, have to answer to a higher power for their actions or lack thereof.
