Bernie Sanders logic: There are five people in the room, one has $5 and the rest have nothing. The person with the $5 should give everyone else $1 so that everything is equal. Aka he is for thievery. The people with nothing need to get a job and earn their money instead of asking for handouts from the wealthy. Success is not a curse. It is a blessing. Capitalism works. Socialism is a failure.

Under Bernie, just because I went to Harvard undergrad, then to Harvard Medical school and spent nearly $400k on my education I should just give my services for a low price because healthcare should be a right not a privilege. I should then pay higher taxes so those who are less successful than me benefit from my earnings.

Idiocy personified.
Under Bernie, others would have the same opportunities you do. Instead of the poor being the ones who are cursed, the poor are the ones who don't work hard enough.
France pays for all college tuition much like Bernie suggests and college grads in France have a 23% unemployment rate.

Meanwhile in the US there are countless stories of people going from rags to riches ... Barack Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Ben Carson, Kevin Garnett, Chris Gardner, etc..
The ratio of rags to riches and the ratio of people who never made it out of poverty is towards the latter. They are exceptions to the rule.

Think more like Finland.
Not rags to riches left but poor to middle class, there are 1000s of examples. I work with two persons like that now. They were Dems too and now have joined the GOP full blast. I remain an independent only because I am pro choice and I do not like how some corporations treat their long term employees. Other than that I have nothing in common with the Dems.
All I propose is that instead of the blessed getting opportunities, EVERYONE gets them?
Everyone does get them. There is a difference between inequality and inequity. Do you understand what that means, lefty?
I love how you assume that you are better than I am. See my response to strikeout. I will give you another example. I went to a poor elementary school. We barely had enough equipment to get a basic education. When I was in sixth grade, we had about 20 kids per class, three classes in a grade. We had to hire three new teachers before my sixth grade year, because all the previous ones quit. The school had a lot of poor kids in it, with terrible influences. One of our teachers that year quit mid-year, so we had to pack that class into the other two classes. We did not have many field trips or oportunities compared to those in other schools. We did not have a fair chance. Yes, we had an opportunity, but we were behind from the start. Do you see what I mean, Boris?
My parents were behind from the start... And theirs even more than them. Wealth accumulation is generational and it takes a long time to acquire.... There's no short cut. There is equal opportunity if you have the persistence to go for it.... Everyone starts from somewhere. I flipped donuts at 4am in the morning.
I agree. It is generational. It is possible, just not easy.

Still haven't convinced me that everyone doesn't have the same opportunities. You don't need a nice building to give a crap. Quit making excuses for underachievers and quit redirecting blame. You either want it or you don't.

Everyone does have the same opportunity. There is room for anyone at the top, but there's not room for everyone at the top.
Not nessesarily. Let me give you an example. When I was in high school, I played baseball. Let's say that I had a friend at the same skill level as me, let's even say he was better and worked harder. To play baseball you need equipment, and it cost 300 dollars to do summer baseball. My family could afford that. His could not. So because of my privledge, I would get more and better opportunities, despite not being nessesarily better or working harder. All jobs are like that. Resources cost money.
There are lots of charities that help fund access to sports for lmi families.

Btw - the finnish unemployment rate for youths is over 20%, much like France. You think that's a good thing?
Not in all communities, and the access is not very good.

I don't ses how the unemployment rates relatea to this.
Because these countries send everyone to school for free.... And now they have no jobs for 1 of every 4 that graduate. Do you really want a socialist system where that's the case?

As it stands now America has jobs for anyone who wants one. Start flipping burgers, do well, get promoted to shift supervisor, do well, get promoted to store manager, do well, switch and manage at a different company for more money, do well..... You get the idea. France and Finland don't want to hire anybody. USA does, with or without a college degree. Why should Joe taxpayer be in the hook if it's not needed?

Btw - sitemail me which community and school and I will get them in touch with an organization I work with to get them new sporting equipment. No joke.
But where is the link between the education system and jobs? The ed system in Finland was just recently implemented.

I feel for you, Boris, the truth hurts. It's hard to admit that you are privledged.
Explain how? My parents came here with $100 in their pocket and did not speak the language. Truth is you have no idea what you are talking about. You don't even realize that you are a looney lefty.
And your parents got lucky opportunities. Other families have lived in poverty for generations. See my reply to strikeout.
"Lucky"? Explain how?

-- No language
-- No capital

How were they lucky vs. opportunistic and working hard?

What families? What generations? What are you talking about?

Idiocy personified.
Cccp logic: Why should I donate too charity? Just because I am sucessful in not getting cancer means that I am privledged?

Why should I have to pay more taxes? Just because I am sucessful means that I should pay more taxes than the lazy? They should have to pay the majority of the taxes!

Why should I tip? The waitress should get a better job. It's their fault that the owners of the resteraunt don't pay them minimum wage.
Nice try lefty. No one ever said anything about Charity. That is someone's right to donate if they so choose not forced by the Govt. If I make $100 and you make $10 and we both pay 20% then I pay $20 and you pay $2. I still pay more taxes. Why charge me 70%? Tip again is a choice not a forced action. You are losing this debate and badly.

Don't compare the US to the Nordic Countries who are for the most part homogeneous and pay next to nothing for military spend or innovation. What was the last innovative tool created by Finland. If you recall, Iceland recently went bankrupt.

Again if I get a medical degree from Harvard why should I be forced to give my services away for cheap. If I am a master plumber I charge what I want but as a MD I cannot? Illogical lefty nonsense.

Your argument is that because you are successful, you are hurt by the govt boris. By extending your logic, no one should give to charity because they are not blessed like you. On muly taxes point, you have too pay more than the lower class.same percentage, more money, so again that goes against your argument.

I was talking about finlands education system, boris. I never mentioned its military. I would much rather bankrupt my country helping my citizens than on weapons.

Everyone knows that medical treatment is too expensive boris. Take your first world problems somewhere else.
#1) we have the best education system in the world
#2) People can give if they like and most do. Many through their churches and temples.
#3) Medical treatment is too expensive? Says who? What is too expensive? Is plumbing too expensive? Are restaurants too expensive? You are being subjective. Another leftist trait. Deal in absolutes without any supporting facts.

Keep trying, lefty.
1. Laughable. People in lower class neighborhoods and schools dont get a good education. I can PERSONALLY attest to that. If you want, I could give examples.

2. Again, by your logic people should not give.

3. https://www.medica-tradefair.com/cgi-bin/md_medica/lib/pub/tt.cgi/Medical_Bills_too_Expensive.html?oid=25471&lang=2&ticket=g_u_e_s_t
http://www.investopedia.com/articles/personal-finance/080615/6-reasons-healthcare-so-expensive-us.asp

Keep trying, Boris. The truth hurts.
#1) BS - we give a ton of $$ to these schools. Fact is most don't have two parents that force the kids to go to school and do their HW. Think my kids would if I didn't force them

#2) People should have free will by my logic.

#3) I can post links too. https://www.wsj.com/articles/are-out-of-pocket-medical-costs-too-high-1460340176
I personally don't mind paying more for stronger health benefits and care. If you want free, no hospital will turn you away. You never addressed my plumbing comparison. Why do we not regulate what plumbers make but we want to try to regulate what MDs can make?

Keep trying, Lefty.

I don't see it as ignorant. I've taken poverty simulations where you have to make choices, TOUGH choices. Healthcare or food on the table, rent or car to get to work. I don't think anyone would argue it's easy.

There are A LOT of organizations that will help in many in these situations.... The ignorance (meant in a nice way) is that poor, undedicated people don't know where to find it or how to ask for it. Again, cultural.

Everyone had the same opportunities, meaning there are no laws to prevent anyone from being the architect of their own lives.... The only thing standing between success and failure is the individual and those they choose to associate with.

TANG IS NOT ONLY FAKE......IT IS NOW CONSIDERED POISON.

LEARN THE TRUTH ABOUT TANG.
10/16/2017 4:22 PM
WHAT IS FAKE ABOUT TANG AND PEOPLE LIKE HIM?

"Only the Color is Orange
Tang may be orange in color, but it is definitely not orange juice. According to its label, Tang contains the following ingredients: Sugar, Fructose, Citric Acid, Calcium Phosphate, Contains Less than 2% of Orange Juice Solids, Natural Flavor, Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), Vitamin E Acetate, Niacinamide, Vitamin B6, Vitamin A Palmitate, Riboflavin (Vitamin B2), Beta Carotene, Maltodextrin, Sucralose, Acesulfame Potassium, and Neotame (Sweeteners) Guar and Xanthan Gums (Provide Body) Artificial Color, Yellow 5, Yellow 6, BHA (to Help Protect Flavor).

Tang contains less than 2% orange juice solids. If a serving of Tang is 8 ounces, 2% of a glass of Tang is .16 ounce, or less than a teaspoon. Most of Tang's flavor comes not from orange juice but from "natural and artificial flavor." Eric Schlosser in his book Fast Food Nation, points out something that may not be obvious: "Natural and artificial flavors are now manufactured at the same chemical plants, places that few people would associate with Mother Nature. Calling any of these flavors “natural” requires a flexible attitude toward the English language and a fair amount of irony."
In other words, Tang is not orange juice with all health the benefits of natural citrus. Tang is an drink that is engineered to taste like orange.
