This is shocking.

could be worse.....in the ALCS - the Rays blew a 3-0 series lead

Closer-of-the-day Carlos Villanueva holds a one-run lead, and the Brewers snap their nine-game skid with a win in Pittsburgh.

C Gregg Zaun was injured, not sure of the extent.

Zaun has some kind of shoulder strain, reportedly headed to DL while AAA catcher Jonathan Lucroy will be called up.

Supposedly LHP Zach Braddock has also been called up for the Minnesota series, and Carlos Gomez is due to come off the DL. Not clear what move would be made to clear a spot for Braddock, who is not even on the 40-man. Adam Stern likely to go down to make room for Gomez.

Baseball Prospectus reporting that owner Mark Attanasio is ready to turn the team over to Willie Randolph. Melvin not in favor. I'm guessing Attanasio eventually wins that argument. I think Sveum would be a better choice than Randolph, however.

I bet the rest of the AL Central is ****** the Twins get 6 games a year against the Twins.

I think you mean the Brewers.

This was one of those great games that you can flip to after the first inning and realize that you don't have to watch any of it. Saves a lot of time.

WHERE IS HOFFMAN?

"In the repair shop."

On the day that owner Mark Attanasio gave the Brewer "braintrust" of Melvin and Macha a vote of confidence, the Brewers closer-of-the-day Carlos Villanueva wasted a five-run rally in the top of the ninth, allowing Minnesota to tie the game, and the Crew loses in 12 when the Twins finally make one of their extra-innings bases-loaded situations pay off. Sunday's scheduled starter, Manny Parra, takes the loss after pitching 1.2 innings.

Marco Estrada will start tomorrow with Parra probably available for more work out of the pen. LHP Mitch Stetter, who has been absolutely horrible since returning to the club (his ERA is higher than Hoffman's) was optioned to Nashville to make room for Braddock.

SI.com says the only scheduling quirk of note in the AL Central is that the Twins have to play Philly while Detroit and Chicago get the Pirates.
