I've got Wheller sitting on the bench. He could give you a little help on the checking line if you wanted to go that route.

I haven't decided what to do with him because he will cost an extra half million to re-sign.

It would appear so. There are two other games that I know of, called "Trophy Hockey" and "Power Play Manager", but neither indicates the ability to do Custom Leagues.

in the long time i have been playing GHL, there has been a long stretch on occasion where it looks like the game is doomed, then eventually someone comes along and spends a day or two cleaning it up. It's a damn shame that a game with so much promise is missing a dedicated development team. But it's hard for me to expect much when it's free to play.

There are threads saying that the postseason never gets scheduled, or that when the league head has the next season begin, the new schedule doesn't get done properly and has ghost teams play one another instead and nothing can be done until the season ends.

That doomsday message was sent in June '09. There have been a shitload of other complaints about potentially GHL-ending bugs, including:

  • When the schedule gets made, a bunch of Hugh Mann teams get added and none of the humans get schedules.
  • When the schedule gets made, one or two humans do not get any games.
  • This one where you can't start the next season because there are too many AI teams.
  • Custom leagues not being able to create individual AI teams, so you can't set the difficulty. Your only option is to "fill the rest of the league with AI teams" and take the ****** Hugh Manns (Menn?) you get.
  • Playoffs won't start.
