Game 121: Eddie Guardado's struggles continue; Ken Griffey Jr. snaps a 2-2 tie in the top of the ninth with an RBI double, but Guardado suffers his seventh blown save of the season, allowing a two-run single to Mark Grudzielanek in the bottom half to give the McPoyles a 4-3 win.

Game 122: Montreal has 12 hits to Philly's five, but the middle of the Spectres order has a horrible time with men on base and the McPoyles pull out their second straight 4-3 win in the series.

Game 123: Melvin Mora's grand slam in the seventh puts Montreal up 5-3 and the bullpen takes care of things from there as Montreal finally turns the tables on Philly to salvage the series finale.

This round of divisonal play will end in Montreal with a visit from the New York Madmen (52-71).
8/12/2010 10:44 PM (edited)
Game 124: AJ Burnett gets roughed up a bit by the Mad Men, but Montreal puts together enough offense to give him his 14th win, 7-6.

Game 125: The Mad Men even the series with a 7-4 win, scoring at least once in each of the last four innings. Jason Frasor takes the loss in relief, allowing a two-run homer to Mark Texeira.

Game 126: Ryan Doumit hits a three-run homer to cap a five-run first off Nate Robertson and the Spectres hang on from there for a 6-4 win. Eddie Guardado gets his 38th save.

The Spectres travel to Milwaukee to face the Bears.
8/13/2010 10:33 PM
Game 127: Jake Westbrook scatters five hits in a complete game, 4-1 victory over the Bears, earning his 10th win of the season.

Game 128: Carlos Delgado and Ken Griffey Jr. drive in four runs each and John Body hits his first home run, helping AJ Burnett to his 15th win of the season, 14-8 over Milwaukee.

Game 129: Milwaukee takes the series finale 9-8, jumping on Aaron Cook early and holding off a late Spectres rally.

The Spectres welcome San Diego to their home park next.
8/14/2010 10:58 PM (edited)
Game 130: Jeremy Bonderman strikes out eight but allows three home runs while the Spectre bats manage only two doubles in their seven hits. San Diego takes the series opener, 5-2.

Game 131: Montreal survives another blown save by Eddie Guardado (walk followed by Moises Alou homer in the ninth) when they string together three singles with one down in the ninth to take a 7-6 win.

Game 132: Carl Crawford's error leads to three unearned runs and gets the Conquistadors going; they score seven runs over a three-inning span and hold off the Spectres late for a 7-6 win.

We are heading home to face Los Angeles.
8/15/2010 10:56 PM (edited)
Game 133: Jeff Kent hits a two run homer in the first, and that's all Scott Kazmir needs to beat the Spectres 2-1. Kazmir strikes out 13 and outpitches AJ Burnett, who drops to 15-4 despite a stellar performance.

Game 134: Montreal suffers another one-run loss to LA, losing 4-3 when Craig Wilson doubles home Jay Payton in the eighth inning off Salomon Torres. Jose Lopez is hit by a pitch with two down in the ninth but is then picked off first.

Game 135: LA sweeps the Spectres with their third straight one-run decision, 6-5. The Granny Lovers win it late again, with Jermaine Dye going deep in the ninth off David Cortes to snap a tie.

The Spectres head to St. Louis next.
8/18/2010 10:58 PM (edited)

Game 136: St. Louis puts the hammer down on Aaron Cook, turning 14 hits and six walks into 12 runs in support of Greg Maddux, who improves to 10-9 with this 12-4 rout.

Game 137
: Montreal bounces back to take an error-marred game 5-2. John Body drives in two runs to back Tomo Ohka, who gets his 10th win. Montreal commits three errors and St. Louis two; Montreal is the beneficiary with two unearned runs.

Game 138: For the fourth time in six games, Montreal loses a one-run decision, this one 4-3 in 12 innings on Sandy Alomar Jr.'s RBI single.

In a bad slump, we host hated San Francisco next for our final meeting in the regular season.

8/18/2010 11:02 PM
Game 139: Frisco batters AJ Burnett for six runs in seven innings, handing him an 8-2 loss to drop his record to 15-5.

Game 140
: After shutting out the Niners for five innings, Aaron Small falls apart; Frisco scores eight times in the final four frames and takes an 8-3 win.

Game 141: Montreal buckles down, gets a big home run from Carlos Delgado in the seventh, and beats Mark Buerhle 4-2 to avoid a sweep.

Off to Wrigley to visit the Bootleggers.
8/18/2010 11:05 PM

Game 142: Geoff Jenkins and Melvin Mora hit home runs to help the Spectres make the most of their five hits, and Eddie Guardado gets out of a bases-loaded stiuation in the ninth for his 41st save as Montreal takes the opener 4-3.

Game 143: The Bootleggers score seven times in the second inning, capped by a Nick Swisher three-run homer, and the game is essentially over at that point. Chicago evens the series with an 8-2 win.

Game 144: Chicago hits three home runs off Montreal starter AJ Burnett, then wins it in the ninth on Chipper Jones' RBI single; final score is 6-5.

The Spectres return home to face Houston.

8/19/2010 9:59 PM (edited)

Game 145: Pedro Astacio and a trio of Houston relievers stike out ten Spectres while walking none; the Lone Stars waltz to a 6-1 victory in the opener.

Game 146
: Jeremy Bonderman has a horrible first inning, allowing four Houston runs, and unfortunately that's enough for the Lone Stars as they hold on for a 4-2 win, with only Carlos Delgado able to do any damage for Montreal.

Game 147
: Montreal finds itself down late once again but tie the game at four in the eighth on Carlos Delgado's second homer of the game, a two-run shot, and then win it in the ninth on Carl Crawford's single.

It's a road trip to Cincinnati before the final round of divisional play to close out the season. Montreal leads Philly by six games, magic number is 10, but for all practical purposes have clinched no worse than a wild card slot.

8/20/2010 10:59 PM
Game 148: The Spectres' tailspin continues in Cincy, as they hit three homers in the first four innings but then go silent at the plate, and allow four runs in the bottom of the eighth to give the Stingers a 5-4 win.

Game 149: Ken Griffey Jr. hits his 30th home run and drives in four while AJ Burnett strikes out nine batters in a complete game as Montreal routs the Stingers 13-2.

Game 150: The series finale is another blowout win for the Spectres as Geoff Jenkins homers twice to drive home five runs in a 13-4 decision. Jeremy Bonderman improves to 13-9.

We host Pittsburgh to begin the homestretch, leading Philly by six games and with a magic number of seven.
8/21/2010 11:19 PM (edited)
Game 151: Aaron Cook's season has been getting progressively worse, and today is probably his last turn on the mound this season as a member of the Spectre rotation. He allows six runs before leaving in the third, having surrendered two home runs to Adam Dunn. Ryan Dempster fares no better, allowing four runs in one inning of work, and the Spectres waste a two-homer, six-RBI game by Ken Griffey Jr. in a 14-10 loss. Carlos Delgado also homers, his 30th of the season.

Game 152: Shwan Chacon and Gil Meche throw four shutout innings each against the Spectres and Pittsburgh blanks us 8-0.

Game 153: Another day, another whitewash; Jon Garland throws eight shutout innings and the Melons win their second straight shutout, this one 6-0. Montreal manages only four hits.

Game 154: The losing continues; Carl Crawford's two-run homer in the ninth sends the game to extras but Jeff Francouer hits a two-run blast off Salomon Torres in the 10th and Pittsburgh sweeps us with a 5-3 win.

Hard-charging Philly is in town next.
8/23/2010 10:41 PM (edited)
Game 155: For the third time in four games, Montreal is shut out, this time losing 5-0 to Philly's Dontrelle Willis (18-10).

Game 156: Philly moves within a game of first place with a 4-2 win as they score four times in the seventh to give Jake Peavy his 21st win.

Game 157: Philly rallies for three runs in the ninth off Jake Westbrook and Eddie Guardado (who suffers his ninth blown save) for a 4-3 win.

Game 158: On the brink of an epic meltdown, AJ Burnett rescues the Spectres (for the moment, anyway), throwing a complete game shutout and blasting his third home run as Montreal salvages the finale of this four-game set, 9-0.  Carlos Delgado also goes yard and drives in four runs.

Now clinging to a one-game lead over the McPoyles, Montreal heads to New York to finish the season.
8/25/2010 7:19 AM (edited)
Game 159: Montreal savages the New York bullpen for 10 runs in the final four innings to take the series opener, 13-4. Melvin Mora hits a three-run homer in the first to become the third Spectre with 100 RBI this season.

Game 160: The Spectres reach double digits again as Wilson Betemit hits his second home run of the season to drive in three runs, backing Tomo Ohka, who goes seven innings in an 11-1 victory.

Game 161: The S[ectres score their second straight 11-1 win as they clinch the division title.. Jake Westbrook throws a complete game while Ken Griffey Jr. has four hits.

Game 162: Carl Crawford scores in each of the first three innings and the Spectres finish the regular season with a 9-2 win at New York. Aaron Cook evens his record at 6-6, throwing six innings.
