Coffey's been unavailable out of the pen the last few days after hurting his thumb while batting; he was put on the DL today. Corresponding roster move won't be announced until Tuesday before the Cubs series opens.

Brewers split their national TV appearances this weekend, topping the Cards 4-3 in 10 innings to finish that series and avoid a sweep.

Gallardo/Wolf/Bush will be the starters in the Cubs series this week and it sounds like Narveson will start on Friday. More details on the pitching plan will be revealed Tuesday, Macha said. Riske will have to come off the 60-day DL this week as his current rehab assignment will reach the 30-day limit.

My breaking ball is absolutely getting walloped every time I throw it. I wouldn't say my location has been this bad maybe since my rookie year. I feel good, I feel healthy. To keep leaning on that crutch is kind of getting old. For me, I can't even get a rhythm of having fun out there. Every pitch I've thrown so far this year has been bearing down, worried about my pitch, worried about this, worried about that.
Toronto knocked him around for eight extra-base hits, including three homers, and Sheets now has a 7.12 ERA and abysmal 16/16 K/BB ratio in 30.1 innings overall this season. His velocity is at career-low levels after missing all of 2009 following elbow surgery and Oakland's one-year gamble looks more and more like $10 million flushed away.

Ben Sheets update: Buster Olney's column in the latest issue of ESPN:The Magazine indicates that Sheets was tipping his curve ball when rocked by Tampa and Toronto... he has since fixed his delivery (supposedly) and has pitched better since. Though he's still 2-4 on the season with a 5.00 ERA.

It would have been as useful.

As the draft continued today, the Brewers added a bunch more garbage players who will never amount to anything, including an Alabama pitcher in the third round who is described as "a bigger Jeff Suppan".

OH YEAH!!!!!
