Beginner's luck wears off after awhile.

What were we JUST saying about rivalries? If this guy gets good, he'll be #2 on my hit list (no one will ever replace Probie in my heart).

BRAIN make the Pit League go round.[/QUOTE]

licky the clinky...

One guy said he had a payroll of $54M in a private league with a $35M cap. Can ONLY do it re-signing your own players and draft pick though. If you want someone off the FA market for $6m (example) you have to get your payroll down under $29M before you can sign him.

THIS IS VERY GOOD NEWS IN BRAINLAND!!!!
SWEET

But if you're over the cap and need to fill a spot, you're fucked. Doesn't make sense. Cap has to go up. Honor system..whatever it takes.

time for happy hour.

Congrats, from here on out any time I speak to you or about you on the GHL site or within our GHL threads here, you shall be known as Glen Sather.

POW!

Exactly, though. We actually have it both ways. We have no cap, and a $35M cap.

If you're over the cap and need to fill a spot from the FREE AGENT list, you're screwed. I carry 23 skaters and 3 goalies. I never have to go to the free agent list to fill 20 roster spots.

BUT, if you want to keep re-signing Orosco, Tise and Antonio until they die, you can, as long as you're making enough money to stay in the black.

If you decide the team you have can't win it all, you have to get back under the cap to hit the free agent market to reshape it.

Or, if you see a guy on the free agent market you think you can't live without, you have to get under the cap to get him.

Methinks the days of the free agent frenzy, staying up until 2:00 AM are over. You have to think long-term. Teams will have no cap space to shop with.

It benefits me, because I'll be $3M under the cap after my old guys walk. I can add another piece or two, THEN re-sign whoever of the eight guys that are up I want. I can keep the core of this team together for 15 seasons or so if I want to. I've got 9 guys with 85+ potential, and an average age of 23.3 without the old guys.

They might as well re-name the trophy after me now bizzatches!

damn you for being so organized!

must regroup....

we've got an open/sim spot for anyone who wants in before the draft and the offseason, get a jump on building a foundation. Or anyone who knows anyone that would want in.

Hoping squiggles gets on board.

Goons' one star player (Hampus Saft -72 overall) now a free agent.

spreadsheets are BEAUTIFUL things!!!

Also, that tip I passed on in the good hockey v2 thread about scouring the individual player pages found me a lot of guys cheap. My leading scorer isn't even making $700K. I think it said he was a 63 overall. Well he's a 75 now! My guy with 109 offense was supposedly a 61 overall... signed him for four years at $443K per!

Going young then paying off huge now!

no way I could re-sign those guys with the stats they have now and stay under $35M

The game certainly has it's flaws, and could be leaps and bounds better if given the proper attention, but for being free and apparently on autopilot by the developer, there is a ton of stuff I like about it. Including what you just alluded to, that salary demands can be impacted by performance.
