but, one thing hughes is saying that is right, this is not all HCA, multiple things are going on. But, HCA appears to be strongly linked to near 100% of the odd things we have seen.

As I have pointed out multiple times, these boards are to generate enough interest in an issue to flesh out some info, so seble can determine what is wrong, if anything. If it is HCA, he can write a little data mining program and determine exactly what is going on.

Problem for vets like me to understand, with now nearly 10,000 games under my belt and a pretty good eye for both sports and math interactions, some of this stuff is fairly intuitive and obvious to me, but others could care less about a vets intuition, they are simply trying to win an argument.

I used to say, give me either side of any HD argument, I can make more valid points than anyone, simply because I have alot of info at my finger tips, lots of HD info, and a fair amount of real life college stuff (how many of you have in the last 2 weeks coached a group of kids who will play basketball in college?), plus most of these arguments I've been in b4, hughes you think this is the first fcp or hca argument that this group of 10-12 vet coaches has been in - LOL

I could care less about the argument, I am trying to help the game, at least for now, although I could see very quickly retreating into my HD fortress of solitude, where I had been very comfortably residing the past 6 months.
Is that the largest margin of defeat you've ever had in hd?

rails, my 8-3 gb team in allen, around a 20 RPI lost by 51 with the new engine too, neither team fcp, one was a 2-3 zone, other zone combo, did I mention the home team won?

Other than that, I don't recall too many big defeats, I'm sure there have been some, since I saw some during the beta test, I was a little worried this might happen when the real engine rolled out.

reply to my ticket, nothing is wrong with HCA

Still doesn't compare to my 60 point loss as the #1 team in a Final Four semifinal to a team I had beat on the road by 20! That result was the one that had me retreating into my HD fortress of solitude--where I've been for quite a while.

am i getting this straight? OR and raildude commiserating over thier most agonizing losses?
6/8/2010 1:12 AM
Rails: yeah, i remember one time i went nearly a month without winning an NC

OR: ugh, i know, i feel for you my brother... one time oldave almost beat me n a game that mattered!!! can you even imagine how embarassing that would have been?

Rails: no, OR, I cant even imagine. well, at least we have our fortresses of solitude where we can sit and sulk andfeel sorry for ourselves and all our awful luck here in HDland

OR: yeah, I'm not sure where i'd be without my FoS. You know there have been a couple of seasons in tark where my uconn team did not win the NC.

rails: oh no! how ever did you deal with that, OR? that must have been so painful.

OR: oh yeah, you cant even imagine.

rails: atually, no I cant imagine,... I think the last time I went 3weeks without winning an NC, Gerald Ford was in the White house. but i did have a dream once where i lost in the NC title game. but in te dream, while I was coachng on the sidelnes, marisssa tomei was pleasuring me in ways that im not alowed to discuss in a public forum. needles to say, the game was not that importnat to me.

OR: thats weird, marissa is a good friend of mine and she actally likes to give me nude full-body massages. anyway, i gotta get back to shining my NC trophies. Ive been working on that for 5 hours and I sill have 37 more trophies to go... life's a *****

rails : I hear ya, OR. Well l, good luck against olave tonite... i hope he doesnt almost beat you again, that would really be awful.

OR: thanks raildude

We beat Villanova by 51 at home and lost by 13 on the road. They were a FCP team and we had more speed. Just saying.

Although, CS has said HCA is working fine.

Here is a response from CS when I asked them to look at this thread and comment on HCA.

In the current seasons, the worlds using the new engine are right in line with the worlds using the old engine in home team winning%.
6/8/2010 8:45 AM
I think I'm done after my last seasons run out (I'm in my last season in each of 5 worlds). I just can't get past the beta test basically counting for nil, then having us pay to beta test an update that has some fairly obvious flaws, then having to wait for WIS to wake up to the fact of the most major flaw. I just don't think I can do this anymore.
6/8/2010 8:55 AM
I'm with you jskenner. I have 3 teams currently (down from 6 at my high). I am dropping my Knight team after this season. I may keep my FSU team in Phelan but I just can't take this anymore. Especially with the way they are making changes on the fly and then not admitting other things are wrong.

I was also helping mmt with a few teams and I know we are dropping those as well.
6/8/2010 9:03 AM
i hope OR and raildude know i was just funnin.

i jave tremendous respect for both of those fellas, both in terms of coaching ability and classiness.

it just struck me as funny that both of them were recounting thier agonizing losses. obviously the are human just like the rest of us and not immune to bizarre losses and stuff.

had 3 rematches this year with he new engine.

We beat St Johns by 29 at home, lost by 9 on the road

We beat vanillanova by 39 at home, lost by 8 on the road

We beat uconn by 24 at home, lost by 25 on the road

next up, 185rpi SetonHall, we beat them by 34 at thier place. if my hypothesis holds true, we will crush them by 70+ points whe they visit the Cdome tonight. this will be an interesting case, becuase its hard for me to envision winning a game right now, much less winning in really convincing fashion... we will see.

I can certainly believe that - you may want to follow up if they only use home team winning % to determine if HCA is working as inteded. I don't think that we'd be raising the issue if HCA was the determining factor between two equally matched teams, but the swing was within 20 points (say a 10-point win at home, versus a 10-point loss on the road).

It is my personal opinion that given the increase in FTs and the tendency for more fouls to be called on the road team anyway, HCA has become a little bit stronger, especially with the A or A+ home courts.
6/8/2010 9:35 AM
Yeah it would be interesting for them to look at conference games only, and then margin of victory for home/away. That does seem to have increased. Especially at D1, where the A level HCA are.

But I still see a decent # of road wins in my conference play in Allen.
